Any way of sourcing unlocked Verizon iPhone 7 without having Verizon account? Can't order it online at Apple.

I was able to buy the Verizon model iPhone 7 at Bestbuy and leave the store with my ATT sim working. I did pay full price and don't know if they could do an ATT next plan. No Verizon account.

I was able to do the same. Bought Verizon phone at Apple store, took it home. Popped ATT sim in and away I went.

Kind sir. It does. And the fact that Apple Store employees plus the iUP team have clear stated(and accepted) that iUP phone can work on any network.

Whatever you may have been told by Apple employees, you are wrong. There is a difference between an unlocked phone, which is what you get with the lUP, and a universally-compatible phone, which is what you appear to be expecting. You cannot use a phone, unlocked or not, with an incompatible network. AT&T and T-Mobile iPhone 7 models are incompatible with CDMA networks. It's as simple as that.

As far as I am concerned Apple has made it right for me and will give me a globally compatible unlocked phone under iUP.
Wrong or right my issue is resolved.

So even if you have an ATT account, should you just buy an unlocked Verizon iPhone and put your ATT sim in?

And it would still work for European GSM carriers, correct?

Apple will not sell you a Verizon unlocked phone without Verizon account online.

Glad that they were able to help you out, and it sounds like at least one Apple employee didn't understand the distinction between unlocked phones and world phones. Next time, if your needs remain the same, make sure to request a phone that's *both* unlocked and compatible with all networks you might want to use. Both of those conditions have to be met with any phone manufacturer.

Actually it's not just one Apple employee. I spoke with atleast 5 different store managers and 10 iUP team members and all accepted that something was incorrect in the way iUP was projected. Not one told that iUP unlocked means 'one cannot move from GSM to CDMA' coz they had been explicitly told iUP members can switch to any carrier.

Whether the official wordings will change dunno about that.

Also I had explicitly requested a globally compatible phone but during the initial launch one cannot activate a Verizon phone on At&T under iUP. Hence now will get a sim free version once it's out

actually not the case. if you buy an at&t or t-mobile 7 or 8 on the iUP program, it doesn't work on the verizon or sprint network.
