Photos taken indoors sith poor light contitions will be using 2x optical and not the second lens (2x optical zoom).

Just make the test. Enable the 2x camera lens and then cover the lens (the 2x one) with your finger. You will see that the second camera is not being used, meanwhile the 2x digital zoom from the main camera is.

Apple should present in the screen something that would indicate that the 2x is really optical and not digital.

I bet the cat 2x zoom is digital.

Those pics were indeed taken with the 28mm lens because in low light the f1.8 lens/sensor is more important. This is not a surprise. What's important to me are nice pics.

i'm thinking of signing up to beta profile so i can update to 10.1 and get the portrait mode added on my iPhone 7+. My questions is... Will i be able to get out of the beta profile and update to the final release of 10.1 without losing any data since i joined beta? If so, how to? I would appreciate it.

This picture and others taken with my 7+ are crap! It was taken in low light, zoomed to 8 or 9x. What is the problem? Other pictures taken outside during sunlight, and even an overcast sky are fine.

Dont use digital zoom and iPhones have always done poorly in low light.

8x digital zoom is not going to be good on any camera, least of all a phone camera.
Maybe take a basics of photography course?

I thought that I had seen some pictures here thst hsd zoomed in quite a bit. I have a DSLR and take pretty good pictures with that. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something on the phone. Thanks

I'd like to know the same thing. I updated to 10.1 Beta anyways, but it's be nice to get the final 10.1 without losing any data
