I just found a new #gate. do anyone here found any dust under the screen? easy, just put a torchlight on the iPhone 7 screen when black, then will see all those dust stuck inside the screen. when you turn it on most that close to the LED screen will turn black dot. When iPhone turn off those dust color is white when torchlight on it, but when iPhone turn on will be black. mine have 3 spots LoL. I thought iPhone 7 is dust and water resistant.

Apple called back. The end conclusion is that Apple says it it "normal" for the iPhone 7 Plus and they refuse to assist anymore. I can't tell you how much, after all these years, I am disappointed with Apple. They are out and out false advertising.

I wonder what my options are. I can try to contact the consumer affairs agency.

At the moment I'm so upset I feel like leaving the entire Apple system.

I think you will be best served by just letting it go. Really the focus on gadgets, for many of us, is a diversion, a sign that something deeper is not being attended to in other parts of our lives. I think it makes sense to say no to gadgets or to drastically minimize the attention we pay to them.

A gadget told me to go read your reply. :)

I had the exact same problem with my new iPhone 7 plus. The screen was less bright and warmer in tone than my old iPhone 6 and also vs the new iPhone 7 plus my friend received. I tried all of the suggestions in multiple threads but the one that finally corrected this for me was to reset all settings in SETTINGS > GENERAL > RESET > RESET ALL SETTINGS. Once complete, my color looks bright and balanced like it should be. I hope this works for others as I was about to return it.

I've bought over 40 iPhone 7's up to date, not a single one has been as nice and white and bright as my 6S. They have all literally been a nasty warm tone and the brightness for all have been unacceptable.

And no reset or restore fixed it either.
So you got lucky.... very lucky.

I'm actually happy mine is more dim in the dark. I've found after using my 6s while my 7+ charges, it makes sense why my battery died so fast on it. It's really bright. Blinding after using the 7+.

As for the warmness, it's a bit more than my 6s but my eyes adjust. Besides there is color filters in accessibility.

Still it's not what Apple advertises. I can always turn down the "extra brightness" on the iPhone 7 Plus (if it was there) and save battery I thought. But right now I have to increase brightness to match the level that my 6 Plus was at. Apple is still investigating this for me and are now promising a reply by next Tuesday.

Anyone else having issues with your screen not getting bright? My 7 is super dark and I have turned it up all the way, and it's still very low. Any thoughts?

I have the same problem, even after getting my 2nd replacement iPhone 7 Plus today. I've posted about it in the Apple forums at https://discussions.apple.com/message/31295235#message31295235 and also in my blog at http://lerner.net/iphone-7-plus-screen-brightness-issue-update/.

I do believe Apple has a manufacturing issue with this iPhone.

Return it and try a Pixel or Pixel XL for a couple of weeks. You might really like it.

To tell the truth, I wish I could return it. I even inquired about that the day after I bought it in November. I just wanted to reverse things and go back to my iPhone 6 Plus.

Alas, here in Japan, there is a no return policy. So for now I'm stuck with it. Unless the Apple liaison gets back to me and offers me a way out.

But the Pixels don't support the Felica chip, so you can't use them on the trains and for things like that.

I'm not sure what to do now. Apple is not being overly helpful.

I received a call from the Apple liaison this evening and the final conclusion is that as far as Apple is concerned that’s just the way they are.

They admit there is a variation in the phones during manufacture, but they aren’t willing to continue to exchange phones until we find one that is as bright and noticeably more vibrant and brilliant as advertised – or even as bright as the iPhone 7 Plus my friend from the U.S. has, which we compared side-by-side during his visit here to Japan.

However, Apple are willing to let me think about it for a week or so and even though I bought it from my carrier, Softbank, and even though Softbank does not allow returns and refunds, Apple would be willing to let me sell the phone to Apple for the full retail price and I could then just buy another cell phone with the carrier. In other words, they are offering me a way out, if I decide I want to do that.

So I will think about it.

I’m of course disappointed with Apple and with the quality of the screen. And the logic of the engineering team bewilders me. They are advertising one thing and selling another. It’s clear to anybody who looks at my side-by-side photos, which compare the iPhone 7 Plus and my iPhone 6 Plus displays. It’s even more obvious in person. The Apple Store people who have seen it also agree. 100% of everybody who sees the two iPhones side-by-side agree the iPhone 6 Plus is the one that is brighter.

So I will think about exactly how much this bothers me for a bit. I’ll see what my carrier offers. Perhaps an iPhone 6S Plus if I decide to stick with Apple. Or maybe it’s time to look into Android substitutes.

Since Apple is offering a complete refund of the full purchase price, I suppose I will tentatively remain an Apple customer for now. But I certainly wouldn’t buy anything else from Apple again unless it was clear there was a full money-back guarantee from the start. I don’t want to go through this experience again.

I guess that is the end of my story. I hope other people have better luck than I did with their iPhone 7 Pluses. And I hope Apple reconsiders the way they advertise the iPhone 7 Plus screen. Because what they are advertising just is not what you get.

I took a break and decided to wait a few months before trying my luck again. So I bought 6 iPhone 7's yesterday (3 black, and 3 white/silver) for a total of 47 bought on my record... yikes. But hoping the batch I got yesterday is from a manufacturer that doesn't provide warm yellow screens.

I will take a look at them later today when I get home from work hoping I get lucky with one. I will update ya'll soon.

Fingers crossed!

A couple months ago I bought 16 at once (the apple employees didn't even ask me why I was buying so many, but I still told them why... and they said good luck and hope you find the one you want to keep... lol), and had to return them all. I've returned all 40+ 7/7+ that I've bought. Seriously upset about this.

Thats nuts... and with a sample that big, what has been the most common/ also maybe most obviously annoying fault of these displays?

is it screen brightness or something else bugging ya?

Surprised the staff is cool about it, are you guys on a first name basis with the whole store?

I hate when I have to swap like 3+ times, at an Apple Store, been a while since that.

It's the screen color. It's just a nasty yellow warm shade, every single one has been that I have bought. My 6S is nice and white/clean and just normal.

Haha, no I am not on a first name basis. But whenever I do go, I tell them my story and they are shocked about it. Only because majority of the displays on the tables are all exactly like my 6S, nice, bright, and white. But every 7/7+ I've bought is warm. There are a few warm tone displays on their table, but majority are not.

But yeah, it's very frustrating. And I can't stand Samsung/Androids, so I gotta continue this. Hoping the iPhone 8 doesn't have this problem.

are you sensitive to warm uniformity? like being darker at the bottom/more warm?

How many of those would you say you've come across?

thanks though, this is interesting. my iP7+ screen looks good but definitely warmer next to 6s plus

and a bit dimmer at the bottom

but I truly cant be bothered, given my luck ill get a unit with actual issues and a worse screen

and Apple will have to pry 10.1.1 jailbreak from my cold, dead hands

Compared a buddy's 7+ to mine out of morbid curiosity

His is absolutely warmer and less bright.

Stinks :/

I just use Display Accommodations in Settings to get a "bluer" screen.

I'm a photographer, and I'm extremely picky with my colors and 43905345883957324 other things. The display accommodations doesn't help 100%. But I'm glad it worked for you!
