So explain to me the huge performance difference? Why on earth is an old phone like the 5 and iOS 6 a smoother and more solid performer then the 7 or 7 plus? Here's no excuse, Apple is just not optimizing like they used to. Plain and simple.

Different design of the OS using different frameworks and libraries to do more things in a different fashion. The part about Apple being able to do better or that things should be better is somewhat separate/different from why things might be like that.
