Whatever you do, don't buy the Xr. It's overpriced rubbish
LMAO. Ha ha LMAO. So funny. I own the Xʀ and the Max and neither are overpriced rubbish. This is obviously coming from someone who has never tried the top selling iPhone of this release.

PPI patrol from “Applefan” who used LCD’s up until last year. Now I guess you think IPS panels are “rubbish”. NONSENSE. My god. Again, I use my Xʀ more than I use my Max and I upgrade EVERY iPhone release. I am a “latest and greatest” person and work in the cell phone industry.

Nothing about the Xʀ is “rubbish”.

The 8 is legacy and old, old technology. The XR is shiny and new

I’d say your post is uninformative and baseless. The iPhone 8 and the XR, if you compare both those phones with features/capabilities, they’re almost identical in terms of the water resistance, true tone, stereo speakers, the list goes on.... the reality is, both those phones are great values for what they’re offering, and the iPhone 8 being discounted the way it is, it’s probably one of the most underrated iPhones for what it’s offering, even if it is using touch ID in an older form factor.

Nobody cares about True Tone, or whether they have the same speakers lol. The iPhone 8 is the same design as it was in 2014, whereas the XR is the best design that Apple have ever done. Not to mention that I imagine the battery life is better than the 6SSS

Kind of contradictory, isn’t it? You saying that ‘nobody cares but true tone’, which that’s obviously false/subjective, yet; you say the XR is the ‘best design’ Apple has ever done, which is also subjective, being that opinion will vary depending on the user. Your post is an opinion, not a fact. Consumers base their purchasing decisions based off the price point of the phone and what it offers, that’s just common knowledge.

Yeah, its my opinion

Right, we already established that, but you were stating before that ‘nobody cares about True tone’ (Which isn’t True) or The ‘XR is the best design ever by Apple’ (Which also isn’t a fact), so those are two things are not mutually exclusive between a fact and opinion, at least by the way you were stating it.

Why is the 8 still being offered and why are people buying it then?

I think you’ll find it’s a good solid phone with many of the features of the current devices at a very competitive price. Not everybody out there is vain enough to be worrying if their iPhone looks slightly older than the others. Your opinion is just your opinion.

Seriously, I am considering more and more the 8 Plus or perhaps the X as I would really enjoy having the telelens. The other question remains the capacity: I am using Icloud and I have a Sandisk usb lightning stick, thanks to that my Iphone 6 has only 35 Gb used out of the 64Gb, so perhaps 256 will be overkill but at the same time, I never shot videos in 4K, so that could take more space...

4 times the storage would be the biggest factor IMO. I’d go with the 8 plus in that regard, one less thing to worry about, nothing worse than monitoring storage. And as most iPhone users know the every day usage will essentially not even be noticeable between the two at performing your everyday tasks on it.

If you’re using 4K video, then you would need additional storage, as that consumes likely some of the most on an iPhone even over photo/apps/games, ect. When in doubt, always opt for the higher storage, as it’s better to have higher storage than too little.

I bought a 256k 8+ on the day of release. In my experience with iPhones it's hands down the best device I've owned. I have typically upgraded every 2 years to get latest tech and camera improvements so I'd be up for a replacement this fall. Usually by this time I feel ready to upgrade but I don't feel that yet. The camera is fantastic, battery life is amazing, screen size and resolution are perfect for my needs. I don't have it even close to filled up but I have plenty of room for music, photos and videos without having to worry about moving stuff off or using any paid services. My opinion is it's still very much a relevant device and if you can find one at a price you're happy with, don't overlook it.

About the memory. If I have Icloud why should I worry about having 128 or 256? Is 64 not enough? My Iphone 6 64 is already full of apps that I rarely use, I am not into gaming anymore. I also have an Ipad Pro 256gb. I also use big characters so if I want to see all my apps I have to go through 6 or 7 screens...I am afraid I will get even more apps with more memory and I will be completely lost...

So from what I've read from your previous posts, you're primary needs for the new phone come down to quality of camera and cost being the top two items. I would focus on those to. Do some research on camera reviews between the two and see which photos look best to YOU. The cost aspect is an obvious choice.

Regarding storage space while I'm sure you can live with the smaller space if you manage your apps, photos, videos, etc I'll again mention that it's nice to have the storage and not have a need to worry about that. You can control the amount of content that's on your device whether you have 64 or 256 storage.

In summary, think about what's most important to you when choosing a new phone and make your decisions based on those priorities.

That display is bad... not sure if it is only ppi problem, text on Xr is somehow blurry, maybe sth about liquid retina tech?

It sounds more like you saw a defective unit. The text on an XR is ever so slightly blurry if you look very closely for it but it’s unnoticeable in general use. I’ve compared them to my 8+ and the difference is minimal to say the least.

Dont think so, seen several units in stores... it looks bit blurry even in comparison with ip7/ip8, and of course, plus ones lcds are much more crispy..

We’ll have to agree to disagree on that then despite me owning a plus device and having good vision. It would be favourable for me as the XR is appealing to me for my next upgrade.

I’m still using an 8 Plus and it’s fine. Well alteast you still have the Taptic Engine unlike on the XR.
There is a Taptic Engine in the XR, just no 3D Touch
