Of the 4 phones produced with the general 6 design, the 7 has the joint worst battery life, despite having the largest size battery of them, and a chip specifically designed to be more power efficient (having the two pairs of cores, one of which are specifically for low intensity use).

Battery size:
1,821mAh - iPhone 8
1,960mAh - iPhone 7
1,715mAh - iPhone 6s
1,810mAh - iPhone 6

Battery endurance (from GSMarena*):
66h - iPhone 8
62h - iPhone 6s
61h - iPhone 6 & 7

*This is assuming a baseline of 1h talk time, 1hr web browsing and 1h video playback per day, you can adjust to a more realistic use case on their website, but as this is just for relative purposes it works well.
I'm not sure about some particular test someone ran through, but the battery life seems to be fine, and certainly not unexpectedly bad (perhaps not as great as someone might think it might or should be based on the battery size in comparison to other models of similar design, but that's quite a ways off from unexpectedly bad).

Agreed. His post suggests 9-12 hours for the 8plus which is utter nonsense; I triallled it for 3 days and got about 6.5 hrs general usage.

With my X I get 8~10 hrs on WiFi. And approx 7+ hrs on LTE.

If it is continuous talk time then 10-12+ hrs.

If it is continuous SOT not tried, probably 6-8 hours on WiFi.

Then there is something wrong. 8 should get 80-90% battery life of X.

I am still about 50% of battery life after a full days use on my 8.
You mean after a full day, not a full day's use.
As for the OP, when I first got a Plus model I was amazed at the extra battery life. You're never going to get record battery runtimes from the smaller iPhone. 3 hours of use @61% sounds about normal for most phones unless you're just listening to music. People expect too much from a phone battery these days IMO. We still don't get a full day's hard use from the majority of phones.

If you are that glued to your phone and want the smaller 8 and spend all day in a jungle with no power, just get a small power bank that does 1-2 full charges. Problem solved.
Or just get a 8 plus, there would be nothing wrong with your phone imo.

"Glued to my phone" - using it for couple of hours on and off is glued to it? Right...

I really mean a full days use. It is just that I use it mostly for calls and text. Maybe check the weather etc. I have had great luck with the battery. For me a full days use is 12-16 hours.
