iPhone 8 is a solid phone for years to come. It’s last true design which resembles the original iPhone.

I got an iPhone 8 a few days ago, very nice device, beautiful build quality, and my first smartphone. I’ve been using a flip phone for several years and it’s all I need, but the 8 extends my Apple ecosystem, and it can often be obtained at a very reasonable price.

Yesterday I went into a cornfield and made a FaceTime call. Today I paid some bills with the iPhone 8, tonight I will go to a store and try to buy some items with Apple Pay.

I cant wait to get my iPhone 7 128GB! it is brand new! it'll be here by Friday I suppose.

That’s what I have after giving up my much loved SE.

I chose the 7 over the 8, due to the lighter weight.
I wouldn’t want to go bigger or heavier than this.

I have an 8 Plus (launch) and it's the only phone that has kept me from not upgrading the next year. Hell, it's actually going to tide me over until 2020. The glass design is sleek, wireless charging is grand, and the true tone is exactly what I wanted out of the 7.

This phone overtook the 5 for me, as far as my favorite iPhone ever.

I am actually thinking of buying an iPhone 8 instead of Xr/XS when my carrier contract ends in two months. XS is simply too expensive here in EU and I really like using 3D touch.
Bear in mind the “haptic touch” on the XR gets a big upgrade in iOS 13 and basically replaces 3D Touch entirely - it’s highly likely the whole lineup is going that way from the new models onwards.

The 8 is fine but for me the XR was more than worth the extra. Face ID, much bigger screen, much better camera, more RAM (likely more future proof), a better solution for the home button IMHO, and the battery life is stunning. In 11 years of buying iPhones this feels like the biggest single upgrade I’ve ever had.

another happy iphone 8 user here - had the 3, 4S and 6 before - now the 8 - great battery life - lots of storage and just a great all round iPhone

I have an 8 Plus which I bought on launch so going on 2 years next month and I have no plans on replacing it this year. It's a fantastic device. It's no slouch. It runs as fast or even faster (iOS 11 vs 12) as it did when I first got it. The true tone LCD display still looks great in 2019, TouchID, 3D Touch, wireless charging, battery life is above average, great camera, great sounding stereo speakers, build quality, water resistance.. What more can I say.

People that are stuck with XS and XR have deep jealousy for notchless phones deep down. There is no denying it.

The notch is definitely not ideal but it’s fine when using the phone in portrait mode. Sometimes it can be noticeable in landscape mode depending on what you’re looking at.

I upgraded from a SE too. It was tired, old, and beat hard. Now my brand new 128GB iPhone 7 is really hitting the spot as my favorite phone ever.

I moved over from an S8 to the iPhone 8 a couple of days ago. Loving the size, lack of a cutout and the synergy with macOS devices is amazeballs!

The iPhone 8 has a lot going for it. 3D Touch, wireless charging, great cameras, ridiculous A11 processor, especially for screen resolution, portability, etc. Congrats.

I believe all 3D Touch devices will lose the feature with iOS 13 in favor of haptic touch, which is pretty much the same without the extra pressure applied.

I believe all 3D Touch devices will lose the feature with iOS 13 in favor of haptic touch, which is pretty much the same without the extra pressure applied.

It is strictly my opinion that it is not pretty much the same unless it is as instant as 3D Touch. When they reduce the delay that exists between touching an icon, haptic vibration and the menu showing, then we may be able to successfully move on.

Currently, on my 8, running latest beta of iOS 13, this is what happens:

1. Instead of "touching" an icon, I sort of "press" it and even before my thumb "retracts" from the press, the menu comes up. This is "very nearly instant".

2. If I "touch" the icon and remove my finger the app opens up.

3. If I "touch" the icon and hold that touch, instead of "pressing" it, nothing happens for a split second, then I feel the haptic vibration, and just as the vibration is ending, the menu pops up. The entire process feels like it takes longer by about half a second. (This delay is the delay necessary to tell the software I am not trying to open the app, I am trying to get into options.)

Kindly refrain from scorching me on this, I am already near the equator. I am only stating what I feel. This "feeling" is an important, even critical, aspect of UI and UX design.

For haptic touch to replace 3D Touch (for me), this delay that I can "feel" needs to be eliminated. Which can't be done, coming to think of it, since pressure can be a better differentiator than a hold in terms of time taken for activation. I just touch an icon and the app comes up. I will need to show intention by holding the icon for software will need to understand the other option. That delay (the hold) may or may not be reducible.

On the other hand, it is pretty straightforward for software to understand that if there is a pressure on the screen that is beyond a certain value we just get shown the menu. This is why 3D Touch feels instant as against haptic touch.

Just my sentiment.

In about a month’s use I can count the number of times the notch has actually been visible in content on about one finger. Total non-issue compared to the big advantage of the larger screen.

You should really get an iPhone XR.
The latest design concept with affordable price.
I'm assuming half of us still on the 6-8 prefer the smaller form factor and don't actually want a larger phone.

Yeah we really envy that eyebrow the size of Groucho Marx’s. And a chin to match. What were we thinking, lol?
Slim eyebrow and chin-less iPhone would be a good medium.

A majority prefer bezels over notch or else we would have notched iPad, iMac, and Macbook by now.

Why would anyone be jealous of old tech users?
That less than 1080P display tho!
Anything over 1080P in a iPhone screen size is just extra, unnecessary icing. We're already at Apple's Retina level of quality since the 4.

6 - 750P - 326 ppi
6+ - 1080P - 401 ppi
X - 1125P - 451 ppi

Plenty of pixel density
