i have an iPhone 7 and iPad Air 2. My budget does not allows for one purchase between the iPhone 8 and the iPad Pro 10.5'? Which seems like a better option. I'm not really sure I would buy an Apple Pencil, just to clarify. Thanks.

I have an Air 2 & an iPhone 6S Plus. I use my iPad extensively & am opting to keep the 6S & go with the 10.5 inch Pro. My Air 2 will be passed down to my son. Don't get me wrong, I use my phone daily for texts, pics & social media but hands down the iPad wins in terms of my use patterns.

If you are really struggling financially, I would advise you to hold off. But if you still want to buy a new gadget, go for the iPad Pro! Jumping from iPhone 7 to iPhone 8 is a very dumb move, I am sorry.

I find it sad people are incapable of making a buying decision.

This is a community last time I checked, asking advice from other community members is sort of what we do here isn't it?

I wrestled with the same choice, though my husband was giving me negative kickback over spending 1K on an iPhone X. I decided to upgrade the device I use most. My current 6S Plus is great but it goes right on the charger when I get home & out comes the iPad so my choice is made. Now bring on the holiday sales!

I would go for the iPad. You Air may not be eligible future iOS updates. That iPhone is good for at least 3 new iOS versions.

I had to read your post a few times but I still couldn’t figure out if you chose iPad or X. (I’m not as sharp as I used to be )

There is also the option to replace battery on iP6+ at Apple store. The service can be completed on the same visit, and the cost is $79 (if the only issue is the depleted battery). This way you can extend the use of your iPhone for another year, and get the iPad too.

I use the IPP 10.5 and 6s plus, and I’m well satisfied with these devices. I have an IPm4 and IPP 1st gen but most often use the IPP 10.5.

A couple of weeks ago I left my Apple Pencil at work on a Friday. Saturday morning, despite disagreeable weather I made the 4.5 kilometre round trip on foot to get it. The different ways and purposes for which people use the new iPad Pro appear to be boundless, for me, the pencil increases the functionality beyond what I ever envisaged, particularly the ability to take notes in longhand. Even navigating and precision text selection is significantly easier with the pencil than using an index finger. iPad Pro and consider the admittedly expensive pencil when you can.

I was satisfied with my Air 2 until I went to the Apple store last week (to check out the iPhone 8 and series 3 Watch) and was totally impressed by the iPP and Apple pencil. I didn’t expect that drawing or writing with the pencil would feel so natural. The Pro-Motion display is super responsive and True Tone is instantly easy on my eyes. So, I ended up buying the 10.5 iPP and pencil.

Just to add to my earlier post: which - if any - product announcement excited you most? The iPad Pro or the iPhone 8?

For me, the iPad Pro 10.5 announcement was everything I want in an Apple keynote. I got excited about the screen (True Tone, low reflectivity, brightness, wide colour, ProMotion, screen:bezel ratio) and the camera, and knew immediately this was the next step I wanted in an iPad (coming from an iPad Air 2 - the last iPad I got excited about). Personally, I haven’t felt that way about the flagship iPhone in years. The last iPhone I got excited about was the SE.

So I say go for the product that got you excited when it was announced; this is the one that will fit into your life. If there aren’t any at the moment, hold off until the right one comes along for you.

The iPad. The iPhone 8 is underwhelming.

The iPad 10.5 lets you do mutitasking, feels thinner (because it's so large), has a better screen.
The iPad is better value for your money. It looks incredible and future-proof, whereas I struggle to see or even remember flagship features on the 8. The 8 is great, but it's a terrible iteration.

You already have the only good thing that I would love the iPhone 8 for : a water resistant phone.

The iPad has a headphone jack.

Your iPhone 7 is still so modern, whereas your iPad 2 must be starting to feel a little jaggy and slow dated. If you can mentally picture the process of all the animation and loading, and your device is still registering your touch input, it's time for a change.

But, as people have said, I'd keep my money altogether. You still have an iPad 2 that can do mostly everything iOS 11 has to offer, it's not like you're stuck with an Air or a Mini 2.

But if you really must, don't even give the 8 a second look, go for the 10.5. The iPhone X is the real new iPhone.

I think the iPad Pro would be a better option.

My brother upgraded from the 6S to the 8 and doesn’t see much of a difference.

Going from the Air 2 to the Pro might be a bigger jump for you.
