I have seen threads on this for previous Plus models, but have not seen one for the 8+.

My 8 plus screen brightness / colour changes from left to right as phone stands in portrait orientation. Left side is brighter/yellow and 1-2cm of right side is darker/bluer.

It's not extremely bad, but I am noticing it when reading text from left to right and is distracting.

I had this previously on an iPad Air gen 1 and replaced and the replacement was better, almost perfect.

First, is anyone else seeing this?
Second, what's the opinion, is it worth swapping this one out? I'm trying to gauge the likelihood of a better screen on replacement.

Thanks

Edit: I've uploaded a photo. As always, it's hard to show issues like these in a photo but you can see it slightly towards the right.

The good thing if you decide to get a replacement there should be plenty of stock available.

I have the iPhone 8 and have yellowing on the bottom in portrait mode. I haven't decided about exchanging it yet. Part of me doesn't want to bother because of having it all set up on my LTE watch and car, but it is bothering me.

I don't have the 8, but am hardly surprised. The cheap edge lit LCD's Apple have used since forever have always had this problem. (I have it on my 7+, and after exchanging it 4 times, I still have it)

You can play the exchange game, but chances are you will have it to a certain extent. Or worse, one of my exchanges had a normal upper left corner, blue tint all along the right, and the magenta bottom 1/3 that made content seem really washed out.

The other thing to keep in mind is that while IPS displays have pretty good viewing angles, they aren’t perfect.

This could be it actually. I think the problem goes away if I tilt the phone's right side towards me a little more.

I have a Galaxy Tab S2 that is atrocious when it comes to viewing angles, even though it’s AMOLED. I have an IPS based display that looks amazing when looking straight on, but the blacks start getting blue quite rapidly off angle, my VA based panel is even worse for that. I’ll check my old iPhone 5S and 6 in a little bit. My old 5’s screen is yellowing, so I won’t check that one.

8 Plus, I think I am having a similar issue where the display near the bottom (when holding in portrait mode) is slightly, slightly, slightly darker than the rest of the screen, I cannot tell for sure if it's an optical illusion or if I'm seeing things or what, but putting a complete white image on the screen and rotating the phone around, it looks like the LCD is not as smoothly attached to the screen near the bottom as it is at the top.

Other than that the display is perfect, I'm going to have some friends look at it before I decide to exchange it, since I am well within the 14-day return period.

It's so unnoticeable I don't think you can really see it in a picture, and to most folks it may look normal, but since I've seen it I can't "unsee" it. Or maybe I'm losing my mind.

Archive - having similar thoughts here. I am doubting myself sometimes as when I go to "test" and investigate the issue I can't see it!

Have debated about buying a second phone in store and comparing and returning whichever is worst. Not sure I will because as I said it can't be "that" bad if I can't see it all the time.

I still find that when I do see it, swiveling the phone so the right side is closer helps get rid of it.

I see it. It looks similar to mine. Sometimes I think I can live with it, but right now am leaning toward exchanging it.

This is the thread, I was waiting for. The screen of my iphone 6s Plus was uniformly lit and perfectly white.

I upgraded to iphone 7 Plus and, the first one had yellowish display and sort of muddy/washed out bottom 1/4th of screen. Got it replaced, the new one still had the yellowish tint, but the washout effect is very minimal. So I decided to keep.

Now if the same thing is repeating on 8Plus's; I will give it a pass this year.

Ironically, I have a colleague whose 7Plus has near perfect screen, which still keeps me giving short pangs of heartache regularly.

Same issue as 7+. Good luck finding good one. I would not wasting time and energy tho

My iPhone 8 Plus screen looks perfectly even and white. No yellowing. Even if it did.. not going to get caught up in that OCD exchange cycle. I’m just going to enjoy my phone.

LOL. I also thought the same when I got replacement device. The heartache starts once you see someone else phone having near perfect one.

Mine 8 Plus looks perfect (maximum brightness, true tone on and off), and I know how to spot a gradient having replaced 3 e-ink readers with the same issue :(

If it bothers you, definitely replace it. This is a very expensive device and it should not have such issues. But, as other people mentioned, make sure that it's not the viewing angles or the lighting.

Go to the Apple store and compare it to other devices. Everyone is always a little OCD when they first get their iPhone.

Only way to know if its real or just in your head is to increase your sample size and evaluate for variances.

My 8 had a shadow at the bottom of the screen that was pretty noticable. Showed it to Apple support and they agreed. Showed it to t mobile and they swapped it out for a new one. New one is perfect. That was my first ever iPhone exchange. Stuff happens I guess.

Decided to go for a replacement - but 5-7 working days to receive the new one :(

Picked up 8+ today. Screen seems perfect. Loaded some dead pixel test images and all looked good for color, pixels & uniformity.

Keep in mind, this issue is much more noticeable with dimmer screen settings. Going full blast the brightness overpowers your eyes making it harder to see.
