Very interesting attitude from certain loyalists.. It doesn’t affect me since I upgrade every year, so yes I’ll continue to sponsor Apple with my money to further feed it’s greed and it’s all good..

Because no other smartphone manufacturers are profit driven? It's like somehow we should crucify Apple because we think that other companies do a better job. Bizarre.

Apple as a company is on the whole so much more transparent and such a better global citizen than most other companies. Period.

better question....do you trust that our other apple products (with batteries) are not throttled in the same way as iPhones? Or, do you believe that apple has kept other secrets about our devices, from us?

My answer: I believe there are other secrets about our devices kept from us that need investigating! Secrets that affect usage! IMHO.

P.S. See VW diesel gate as reference.
Like that "spaceship" campus...

Brilliant post. My thoughts are this about the naysayers with Apple:

Apple is not the same company they once were 20 years ago and even 10 years ago the changes have been significant. A lot of users who are longtime Apple followers are disgruntled with the changes they have made to the product line over the years. And all of this negativity is stemming because there are those who are disgruntled with the trajectory and course of path Apple is now taking with certain products and how they Do things.

And whatever issues Others can find against Apple, they will use leverage against Them to bring them down because of their own personal frustrations. We have to remember, the potent feedback that we read on a tech forum, is not indicative of everyone in the real world. A tech forum form is just a place for those who have a strong voice about their disapproval for Apples decisions.

But the overall success since Tim Cook has taken over has been successful in growth as a company in services and product line. Apple has made some mistakes, as all companies have. But it's how they learn from these mistakes and continually improve as a company as a whole.

Isn’t it true that there were tons of things on the docket to be released before jobs keeled over? Things that have been in the work for years, ideas thrown around, some baring fruit later on...some never seeing the light of day. I don’t think Tim has done anything significant outside of being a typical ceo.

He certainly doesn’t have the same driving force or presence as jobs. Tim feels like the kind of guy that wants to be liked. Job was the perfectionist who would push your buttons and drive you up the wall with “details”.

That’s not to say I wouldn’t buy another iPhone. It’s just so ingrained now that it’ll take a really huge bomb to severe the cord (in my case anyways). It’s established itself like any good ol’ fashion label. Like Chanel. Some of the bags designed are wacky as hell alongside the original lambskin 2.55 so why not charge a buttload and be able to pull it off. Why not have a price increase. It’s Apple. I mean, Chanel.

What Is your definition of a typical CEO?

First, I wouldn't really compare Tim Cook and Steve Jobs. Entirely two different CEOs. And for you to say Tim Cook has not done anything significant, can you elaborate on that? I think Tim Cook has taken this company onto a path point with Heights that Apple has never seen before. Apple as a company has grown exponentially in terms of hardware sales and services.

You Mentioned there were a 'ton' of things to be released before jobs passed away, what about the New products have been offered Under Cook with the Apple Watch being a huge success and AirPods being highly popular? Did Steve Jobs have to have involvement for those products to be successful with Tim Cook involved?

I do agree that they are not the same type of people between Jobs and Cook, but I don't necessarily think they have to be in order for Apple to continue to be successful company.

Typical ceo can run the company once it’s already been established. Jobs did that.

And the AirPods aren’t the first wireless Bluetooth ear set released by Apple..one was released similar in 2007.

Basically, cook didn’t do anything spectacular. Apple was already on the path to success...the foundation has been set and its very hard to f it up...or didn’t the analogy get through earlier.

Anyone who worked at Apple or is familiar with Apple knows they still follow the vision jobs set forth. The only difference is now the anal control isn’t there and so thus, some of the fanboys of the past are disgruntled.

And if Tim is still following the vision, then anyone stepping into the Role..doing the same..can just be as capable of leading Apple to this new height that Apple “has never seen before”. The question is, what exactly is mind blowing right now? I’m not saying this as an Apple hater. All my products are apple. But there is nothing Tim has done so far that another capable ceo in his place can’t do.

This doesn't even make sense to me, "a
A typical CEO can run the company once it's already been established?" You do realize that Jobs appointed Tim Cook to conduct this company from where it was when he passed away? This is a billion company and you're making it sound like you have the general knowledge of what Cook conducts for business relations, working with a myriad of parts supplier negotiations and supply chain relations.

You are Severely undermining his responsibilities saying the word 'typical'. Which I don't think you and I or any others have a full understanding of what Tim Cook does to further this company beyond the success that they are today.

Regardless if Steve Jobs established this company, that doesn't mean that everybody has the insight to come in and conduct and organize a company of this magnitude. You keep using the word typical, but you never seem to define how that correlates to Steve Jobs or Tim Cook.

And the AirPods aren’t the first wireless Bluetooth ear set released by Apple..one was released similar in 2007.

Not an appropriate comparison at all, and Zero relevance to anything release in 2007 that the technology that's embedded into the AirPods with the W1 Chip that were released in 2016. Completely different product with and on entirely another level of popularity based on the simplicity and convenient factors battery life.

Basically, cook didn’t do anything spectacular. .

You were saying:

Under Cook, Apple stock has outperformed 81% of the S&P 500 in the past three years.

Under Cook, Apple's revenue is up 99% to $216B since 2011.

Under Cook, their Environment strategy has grown exponentially with green house distribution and environment protection, building solar plants.

Of course, we know Steve Jobs still runs deep with his DNA within the company. But again, we're not comparing Tim Cook and Steve Jobs, Steve Jobs was a visionary and Tim Cook is a financial guru. Really two different people that don't need to be compared to each other in that sense.

And if Tim is still following the vision, then anyone stepping into the Role..doing the same...

This is just a self generated assertion that you have no proof knowing otherwise. You're basically making a claim knowingly that any CEO can come in and take over what he has done and perform his duties and executed the things he has over the course of five years. That doesn't make your statement any more accurate than it is nothing more than a generalization.

I'll stick with iPhones either way every company makes mistakes Apple is no different.

Apple is usually in the limelight because they have such a strong following based on the company's heritage and of course their productline is everywhere. The media just tries to focus on the negative versus the positives a lot of times. But many other companies have made mistakes or not have been upfront about things either. Apple is not perfect and They never will be.

I generally enjoy using my iPhone SE. It's only 7 months old and still 10.2.1 which is already after Apple implemented that deceptive new feature.

If it starts to slow down within 6 to 18 months and my phone feels sluggish like I'm using an 3Gs again, then forget iOS. I will only use Macs from Apple and that's it.

MacDroid fan for life while iOS devices is really for suckers and ecosystem slaves that can't think for themselves or stand up against evil doers. They enjoy being manipulated and cheated on.

Been wanting the Xperia XZ1 Compact to replace my SE but for $500, not worth it right now. Maybe at $350. So I'm stuck using SE for GPS and stuff.

An iPhone 3Gs experience in two years? Hell, no. People are paying $700-$1000+ for iPhones to go back to 2009 after two years of usage.

This is what I'm beginning to worry about. Sure iOS 11 update should bring end user interruption but once the sudden shut down occurs end users cannot disable further until replacing the battery, which for now is $29US yet until when exactly!?!

I HATE those two files OSX/MacOS leaves on USB drives which messes up Router for AppleTV viewing using VLC (I need to find out why this happens) or accessibility to Windows PC's even if the drive is formated to exFat. HomePod ... not until a major revamp of Siri occurs. HomeKit I don't see myself using anytime soon until I can find a specific homekit camera type I must have. Right now only AppleWatch, iTunes and great music playback keeps me to iOS/iPhone.

XZ1 Compact seems to have dropped in price on ebay brand new keep an eye out.
