iPhone Coming to Verizon

I'll say it again. Direct from a Data Solutions Manager at VZW, someone I know personally, there WILL be a VZW iPhone late 2nd quarter or early 3rd quarter.
 
Thanks, but I don't get my news from a network that reports on tweets. :rolleyes:
 
I really doubt this is true, but if anything, it sounds like it would be an iphone with CDMA/GSM capabilities, so you'd still have an iphone on at&t.

And so everyone will leave AT&T to free up the network only to complain that the iPhone sucks on Verizon too. Only an unlocked iPhone will give consumers the best way to pick their poison.
 
You know why I want an iPhone on Verizon, so half of the iPhone AT&T users jump to Verizon and unclog AT&T's towers.
 
Here is my opinion:

One of the key features about the iPhone is it can do data and talk with AT&T. I can't see Apple limiting the phone by offering it on Verizon's network until it can support both talk and data.

The tablet on Verizon, eh very possible I guess. Its not a phone also so it doesn't need data and talk. It doesn't matter to me as long as it has WiFi and i can still tether on my iPhone.

But I could be wrong (although I would be very surprised at Apple's stupid decision.)

That is only a key feature because AT&T tells you that it is in their commercial. I have to admit it, I have used it a couple times while waiting on hold to just browse the internet, but is this really a MUST HAVE feature? No.

I'd trade away my ability to browse the web during a call to gain the ability to not drop calls while you have been on hold for 40 minutes and then have to do it all over again.

I have a friend of a friend of a girlfriend who works for Verizon and they say it ain't till 2015...:confused::confused::confused:


Serious note, Verizon won't get the iPhone anytime soon.

I would not be at all surprised if the rumored tablet turns out to be EVDO- and HSDPA-compatible. That would explain the job postings about Apple looking to hire CDMA engineers without any need to posit an (IMO) unlikely Verizon iPhone.

Mmm, good point.

Plus, it might not be too difficult for them, given the extra "room" inside of a larger device, to make EVDO support an easy engineering task on themselves by doing what the cellular-enabled notebooks do: offload the cellular chipset onto a Mini-PCIe card or something along those lines. That way there's only one mainboard design, and orders for either an EVDO or HSDPA model can be filled by simply changing which cellular card gets installed.
