Serious note, Verizon won't get the iPhone anytime soon.
Well, I think there's a good probability that Verizon is getting something (iPhone, iPad, or both). The anti-iPhone advertising campaign seemed to stop very abruptly, and it wouldn't surprise me if Steve Jobs called up Verizon and said something like, "Stop the campaign or no presents for you."

(Yes, I know the coverage wars is still ongoing, but that's not aimed at the iPhone.)

He doesn't know any more than you and me. He might act like he does cause that's what they told him to say when people ask for
an iPhone on verizon and they consider going to AT&T for it.

I really don't need to defend myself since every one on here is a skeptic because there are so many that claim to know that it is or isn't coming. However, I will just this once...I worked with this guy for 3 years before leaving VZW in late 2008 and still have contact with him, I have a pretty good idea that it is coming.

No, the whole Droid thing is still going...

It's after Christmas, so they have to come up with new commercials.

Hope springs eternal in the human breast; Man never Is, but always To be blest:

I paid extra to get a one year contract with my Droid - in hopes the iPhone is on the horizon for Verizon :p
I love these rumors :D

That is only a key feature because AT&T tells you that it is in their commercial. I have to admit it, I have used it a couple times while waiting on hold to just browse the internet, but is this really a MUST HAVE feature? No.

I'd trade away my ability to browse the web during a call to gain the ability to not drop calls while you have been on hold for 40 minutes and then have to do it all over again.

I guess I'm a bit bias as I have good coverage in my areas

A part of me feels like no iPhone 4G announcement will be made next week.

But after reading someone mentioning that if there is a Verizon iPhone coming, they may want to announce it next week to give people a heads up who are about to sign with or renew their AT&T contract, that seems possible as well.

Damn please stop with these threads, for the sake of this website. Its gonna make people leave this site because its annoying!:(

Just because your friend that you worked with and you trust said so it doesn't mean squat.
People in his position will not get confirmed info, just assumptions and rumors.
Hell, even people that work for Apple in higher up positions don't know about new products or carrier details untill it's officially released by Apple.
So believe your buddy all you want, none of us here will.

Stop this bickering!

At the end of the day, have any Apple 'rumors' this persisting, this publicized by "analysts" ever been wrong? No. Not THIS wrong. Not entirely concept-ridden wrong. If 283947295723 websites report there's a possibility of it coming to Verizon, there's a possibility. That's where I stand, anyway.

I was an iPhone user on AT&T for 2 years. Couldn't stand the lack of customer service, the hang-ups FROM CUSTOMER SERVICE!!, and the lack of call quality. Got the Droid in a heartbeat and switched to VW. Do I want the iPhone back? Yes, on Verizon.

At the end of the day Apple is a business. Verizon is a business. AT&T is a competitor taking away business from Verizon and they can flaunt their Android phones, Palm Pixis or whatever else in their face till the cows come home...but the iPhone is what will bring them subscribers, and revenue. Ditto Apple. Selling MILLIONS more iPhones is on their agenda, and branching out is the only way to do it. They are saturating AT&T.

They're already released the iPhone on multiple carriers overseas, I really do NOT see how it's so far-fetched to imagine they'll do the same in the US. Unless people here are diehard AT&T fanboys? From a strategical, business-logic mindset...it does NOT make sense to stick to AT&T. They can't handle the iPhone load, and lack the customer service. Jobs knows this...he'll remedy it.

Watch.

My father's brother's nephew's cousin's former roommate said that the iPhone is will join VZW's lineup in 2012, which will bring about the end of the world.

so far all the tablet rumors (yes, i know they are rumors but at least we know the tablet is coming for sure) have said that it will be operating on Verizon EVDO. I think it would be rather strange for the next iphone to not have a CDMA radio. It would send a rather strange mixed message like if Apple were to release one Macbook with a HDMI port and another model at the same time, with a Displayport.

I am getting really annoyed with this non sense too. With this, "and my brother's uncle and the pizza guy who works for apple" crap. Grow up already. For those that know somebody that works for AT&T or Apple that's wonderful. Even if you work for the company, the only people that know, are the people that they want to know. I have friend that works for AT&T too, he doesn't even know anything. I'm not knocking anyone's opinion because that's your opinion and you have a right to it. I am tired of coming here and reading crap. This is nothing but taking up space on the site and wasting space.

At the end of the day Apple is a business. Verizon is a business.
A) Apple could easily crush the laptop market with a 500 dollar MacBook or with MacBook Pros that have higher specs as compared to there 'pc' cousins. If they are a business like other business why have they not done this?

B) If Apple releases a CDMA iPhone they will have to put up charts showing the CDMA iPhone being a inferior product to the GSM version.

1) Slower 'max' speeds of 3.1 Mbps v 7.2 Mbps
2) No simultaneous voice and data which Apple highly advertises in their commercials.
3) Not operable around most of the world.

C) From point 3. I think two different iPhone models would go against Apples policy of making products as least confusing as possible. But at same time I do not think the GSM carriers around the world want to pay extra money in subsidy for that CDMA chip in the phone.

Hey that sounds like the same info from my sister's father in law's brother's bar buddy who is a verizon executive!

A. Apple invests more, and has unique technology not available on cheaptard class computers.

You are preaching to the choir. Other vendors are making 500 dollar laptops so I do not see why Apple could not do the same. Sure they would make far less profit per box sold but the increase in volume would make up for that. The point is the precedent has been set for Apple to not make an inferior iPhone just to increase sales.

The point is the precedent has been set for Apple to not make an inferior iPhone just to increase sales.

Apple has already made inferior iPhones on purpose, to increase profit and sales.

The Chinese no-WiFi iphone.

The original EDGE only iPhone. (For more profit and to get people to upgrade later.)

Not to mention disabling one of GSM's major features by locking phones to single carriers, thus not allowing the use of cheaper local SIMs.

For crying out loud - lol, how many of you ACTUALLY use voice and data simultaneously? Often enough to really damper the user experience with the phone if you did not have it.

I had the iPhone for 2 years and I used it, MAYBE a handful of times. Cause for me, when I'm in a call...I'm in a CALL. I don't find a need to get out of the phone menu and start browsing the internet or do other things with the phone. I tend to have it at my ear...you know...like a phone.

Yes it's useful and can definitely come in handy being ABLE to do it, but I bet less than 5% of iPhone users actually do it frequently enough to really notice missing it. It's not a major feature, it's not like no one would want the iPhone on Verizon because they could not do this. It doesn't cripple the device.

You might have have no need or use for that feature but many others do.
With work I tend to use the talk and acess data every day.
It would be an inconvinience if I had to hang up, do what I need to do and then call back.
It even works during 3 way calling. It's definetelly good to
have.

There's no need for rude folks. If you don't like the thread title, be kind and don't open it. Use your valuable time to read others that fit your interest.

I'll say it again. Direct from a Data Solutions Manager at VZW, someone I know personally, there WILL be a VZW iPhone late 2nd quarter or early 3rd quarter.

I was able to work at a corporation over the summer and the Verizon manager who does deployments stated that it will happen in 2010 if agreements are reached. He also said that it is something they are currently in talks about.

The Chinese no-WiFi iphone.
That was one of those funky Chinese decisions because of China wanted to push its own WI-FI standard. Even so, no US people would be affected so it is all good.

What? It's older technology, of course it is inferior.
Not to mention disabling one of GSM's major features by locking phones to single carriers, thus not allowing the use of cheaper local SIMs.
That is a policy of the carrier not Apple.
