It's always about affordability. Persons who think otherwise obviously have little difficulty affording things.

People know that persons buying Apple can afford.

Apple doesnt directly sell laptops below $999 or desktops below $499. That's the cut off of the bottom 80%.
I can't even follow the point you're trying to make anymore. Your chart seems to help my argument more than yours.

and teens don’t have any money (for the most part) so iPhone is actually popular with teens parents - who are the ones actually buying them.

Right, right now. But hooking the teen market is where the $$$ is at…that’s why tobacco companies wanted kids hooked young. They stay customers for life…all of these teenagers will get into the ecosystem and other services from Apple and the whole umbrella grows for life. These teens will become adults and buy their own MacBooks, iPads, Apple TV subscriptions, etc…

I’ve got no complaints about Apple Music, and I love how it integrates into my existing iTunes library/playlists. It doesn’t seem like Spotify is anywhere as slick, though, granted, it’s been years since I‘be tried Spotify, and I’ve never paid for it. I don’t have any issues with content availability, either. So what’s so bad about it?
You should take a look at these articles by Dave B. from Medium:

Apple Music has a fundamental problem that goes deeper than mere bugs and UI confusion - here’s the problem and how to fix it.

Apple Music is in Rough Shape. Here’s How to Fix It.

Steve Jobs was about the only person who understood this in the computer industry.

People want something that JUST WORKS!

No body wants to "RTFM" and search online to figure how to operate this thing. People want to get on with their lives and this is a huge reason why Linux is not picking up. iPhone is much smoother user experience than Android phones.

This. The majority of apps runs more well & smoother on iPhones than the same apps that are also on Android. That's just an example.

Have you tried using Spotify? UX and performance is much better. Search function works snappier and more intuitively. Also, everybody is praying Apple for their ecosystem, but Apple Music cannot go near Spotify Connect. Most good quality all-in-one devices like Cocktail Audio or Cambridge Audio support Spotify, but Apple Music is useless. of course you can always use AirPlay but it has its drawbacks, eg. lags, interruptions and I don't want to stream other apps sounds while on AirPlay. So yeah, I think there are better choices than AM

Kids/teenagers know what works. I’d trust them over the haters we see on these threads. Apple products are simply easier to use, and are at least the same or better quality than competitors.

Apple Music is fine if you know what you want to listen to and make your own playlists, but the Apple-made playlists are largely garbage and music discovery is a lot worse.
I find new/varied music quite easily. It has gotten way way better over the last 18 months.

Apple also pay artists double than what Spotify does. I’d rather go with Apple, if only just for that. But if you don’t care about Artists, then feel free to use the rip off streamer.

I used it earlier this year and strongly disagree. It might be better than it used to be but it’s still a distant second to Spotify in that regard. In my experience, at least.

That’s possibly true. I find most of my music on YouTube Premium Music these days, and more recently Apple. I missed Spotify when i first went over, but now, not so much. I'm also happier knowing that I’m supporting a streamer that pays at least twice as much as Spotify back to the artists. I don’t know how they get away with it. Spotify pay up to $4k per million streams. Apple Pay at least $10k.

I don’t use any of them. Let’s be honest, they all pay artists basically nothing, but that’s the world you have to operate in as a musician. Apple is simply the lesser of the evils (for artists).

I’ll probably stream 2 hours a day. Equivalent to about 4-6000 songs per year, equating to around 3 or 4 CD purchases a year. I get so much more variety than 4 CD's per year.

What does this mean for the future of Android? As those teens become adults they won’t switch. How do Google or Samsung have a future in North America I wonder.

+1 to mention US focus in the headline. Apple is a global company, and so is this web site. The US is only 4% of the world's population, and on most metrics it's a "special case".

Thank god this is just the U.S, rest of the world don't fall for the "green bubble apple marketing bull" thankfully.

They grow up and realise green bubbles doesn't equal being poor, they stop being led on by marketing and look at their finances and buy something else.

Plastic and glass slabs that you put into your pocket won't be around forever. In 15-20 years, nobody will carry phones around anymore. Something else will take its place.

The Apple watch thing shouldn't be surprising considering you can't use the watch without the Iphone.

That’s not true at all. Got my kids an Apple Watch (w/ cellular) first so they had a way to call us, text their friends and I could see where they were before they got a phone. Used it as a way to show me they could be responsible for a device and it was strapped to their wrist so intone harder to misplace.

When pairing a watch to a phone you can set the watch up for someone else so their watches were paired to my phone but the watches had their own phone number.
