Slightly off topic, but of use to many users
Those of you with Sprint:

If you have sprint and want unlimited data for 5 dollars per month and as much as a 15% discount applied to your account... do this:

Call 1-866-881-9571
This is the Retentions Department

Even if you are not close to being up with your contract. complain about something, anything

Tell them that you are happy with their data service they offer but was told by a customer service rep that the Retentions department would be able to offer you this service for $5 per month and apply a 15% Loyalty Discount to your account

We have a family plan with 1900 minutes, 4 phones, all with unlimited data, and 300 text/phone.. We pay 120 month

Cant beat that

Yeah, Sprint rules for this stuff. I pretty much have all the above and a SLIGHTLY lower price as I also get a corporate discount due to the place I work. :)

I pay $30/mo for 500 minutes, unlimited data, unlimited text, nights and weekends starting at 6pm, and my first two and a half months were free.

I dumped cingular faster than a clown car on fire. AND my phone was one price, with no rebates needed...just that price. Awesome.

You will not be required to purchase a data plan.

The problem is there is speculation that a dataplan will be required for the iPhone to even work correctly because of how everything is integrated.

The iPhone is unique, and comparing how they handle other phones is not likely a perfect guideline to what will happen with the iPhone.

Interesting. I called Sprint about some problems with our service and they couldn't have cared less about my problem. Basically, I get no or poor reception in my house and my phones are atrocious and have been for the past year. I tried out a new phone (paying full price) and the reception and clarity held just fine. I called them and told them that and they did not budge in helping me out (afterall, I don't want to have to pay $400 for a decent phone that isn't an iPhone). This was even after threatening to cancel, call the BBB etc. Nothing. I was nice about it too I swear.;)

Back on topic. I sure hope they have different types of iPhone data plans. I don't text that much and the Media Max w/ 200 messages for $20/month would be doable.

im wondering about the data plan with a fam. plan. me and my wife are switching, i think she is getting the bb pearl.. and me the iphone.

(this msg made on the wii)

I would caution you on the pearl, i have tried 3 of and all of them have had problems holding voice calls and with calls failing. I have had 5 other people I know that are using them say the same thing. I think there is a design flaw which is why they introduced a new model.

oh thats cool thanks, yeah we went in the cingular store by our house to pick the managers brain about lines and stuff, and it won here over just because all the other smart phones are so big! whats the updated version?

ok cool, will i still get the discount for the phone since i will be getting a 2yr contract? for both iPhone and BB.

i am paying 70 bucks and all i have is unlimited pcs to pcs and unlimited text, and i hardly get service in my house or anywhere in town and dallas tx is said to have amazing coverage!! (stupid sprint!) but i held off half a year so i could get my iphone!!!

yeah the funny thing is, sprints whole sales pitch up here is that no one has a more powerful network! bleah!

Their customer service is atrocious but I'm willing to put up with it based on the cheap rates and the free perks (6pm nights and weekends, unlimited texting, etc.) I spent an hour on the phone with them yesterday just to find someone who was affiliated with sprint and not with nextel. I thought they were the same company...apparently not.
