FYI: I have a regular 3G and this test works on my 3G.

No, -100 is lower than -67. But -67 is a better signal strength.

exactly.

this is correct:
"-100 is more negative than -50, and -100 is a lower number than -50."

"-50 is less negative than -100, and -50 is a greater number than -100"

In this test, a number closer to zero is more favorable.

Haha! cool. I just walked around my house and in the areas where I have fast 3G, it goes up to -83, and in the areas where I have slow 3G it goes down to around -105. "Bars" -what are those?
(I expect someone on here that has nothing to do with their time right now to create a chart of how the bars correlate to these negative numbers. :D )

Probably because you're not dialing the correct number. Dial *3001#12345#* with the asteriks as well.

Ahhhhhhh...couldn't see the asterisk on my screen...thank you...:)

ok...in Carlsbad/Vista California in my office i get from -69 to -73 on 3G and on Edge I get -67 to -71

Edit: now i can see that by walking around it certainly varies from the hi 60's to the low 90's on both 3G and Edge

btw, I am using a black 16gb 3GS

-87 on 3G in Boston. My subjective opinion of my signal strength in my current location (office building) is that it's excellent, so I guess -87 is pretty decent.

i'm at around -97 to -105 at my office located in frisco, tx.

first floor of only a 3-story building and i'm by a window. worse than i thought it would be

bad

I get about
-119 on 3G in the ours

between -92 and -99 on 2G

Maybe that is why my phone doesn't really like to RING in the HOUSE!!!!!!

Signal pretty much stays at -113. Fluctuates on down to 100 if I just sit it on the desk and don't touch it.

-100 to -113

Makes no sense.

-101 on my desk (3G)
-113 on my ear (3G)
-89 on my desk (2G)
-103 on my ear (2G)

Do I need Bluetooth headset to call in my home?

Raleigh, NC
which is all 1900  No 850

At work, indoors 1st floor next to a wall of windows, -107 to -113 and it does seem to mostly stay on 3G and not drop to Edge. Outside, ie. walking to my car, I get -81 to -89.

At home, I get anywhere from -87 to -103.

Still, it does seem to be making and getting calls and mostly keeping them. 3G data at work is slooooooow though.

I wish, wish, wish AT&T owned some 850 around here.

Checked at work today with 3G off/EDGE on. Stays in the -93 to -97 range. Hopefully I can get wifi to work here at work and turn 3G off. My network guy has to change the channel we're using as the main campus changed and now we're competing for signal.

Decent in Shreveport I suppose ????? Is this 850?
