I wanted this thread in alternative section, to get Android users and others opinion on this possible redesign of iOS finally.

Maybe I'm jumping the gun here, as WWDC is just a couple hours away, hit it sounds like iOS 14 may finally be the revision that's been rumored for years now;

Please; this is not an iOS vs. Android debate, no OS bashing

I doubt very much Apple are targeting Android customers although I’m quite sure they’d be welcome.

Repeat business is way more profitable than new!

Agreed, but I'm sure Apple wouldn't mind even a few more % from Android to buy iPhone's, millions more customers. The iOS home screen really does need a freshening, away from the decade old outdated style it's been on forever, time to update it already.

I at least hope the Phone app does get redone.

Wow...widgets, an 'app drawer', and PiP. An awful lot of familiar features here...;)

And to be clear, I'm not complaining in any way.

Here's hoping Apple rips off some more from Android...<cough>default apps<cough>

To be fair with PiP, it has been on iPadOS. So they are just bringing it over to iOS. I did find it funny though how Craig was talking about how great the UI for PIP was, etc. I was like, " Yep looks like how it works on iPad".

Didn't Android introduce something like Apple's 'App Clip' a couple years ago? Can't recall what it was called, but also don't think I've ever seen it actually in use on any of my Android phones.

Edit: Think they were call Instant Apps.

Let's see if they finally addressed the Phone app?

Well, they finally got rid of the phone call taking over the entire screen on both iPad and iPhone. That's so long overdue.

So turns out you can now select default email and browser apps. It's not all encompassing across all app types, but it's at least a start with two of the most frequently used.

How does nobody realize how much this looks like Windows phone?

I'm all for it. The homescreen has needed an overhaul for a long time.

Gotta say, I may be onboard for an iPhone 12 Pro Max if it has a 120hz display.

I read a lot of people saying iOS 14 seems like Windows Phone UI, and people saying that in a good way.

If the iPhone 12 Pro Max has a smaller notch, a squared off again and flat display, and 120hz refresh, I just might go for that from my Pixel 4 XL.

Realize this impacts far fewer users but the iPadOS pencil enhancements are pretty damn cool.

Now phone calls and facetime calls have a dropdown window to accept or decline calls similar to android. No more full screen for incoming calls.

Apple really stealing a lot of Android features in iOS 14 and that is in no way a bad thing.

Yup. Both OS seem to be poaching some of the better features of each this year.

I'm a fan of both and I hope they do it more often.

However, as much as I hate the whole iOS vs Android debate, it will be fun to see Apple people get defensive about an entire update dedicated to basically adding Android features.

With the updated phone app that they also add a T9 dialer to it? Which is very nice it's the thing when you start typing in the phone number and it's someone in your contacts it'll show you the name as you type it

Yes I’m really excited. Been waiting for this forever.

iOS/iPadOS finally adopting Android features so they don't feel so annoyingly outdated.

I think iOS 1-14 will be enough for me to never purchase an Android phone again. On top of that, at least 95-99 percent of my contacts are iPhone users.

iOS 14 is a huge step in the right direction. Great job, Apple!

This! People coming here.. saying Google is stealing from Apple, Apple stealing from Google. In the end, does it really matter? We as a consumer win! I don't care what features are taken from the other. I'm happy Apple provided some long-awaited features to the iPhone, I'm happy for iPhone users.

I'm not looking for iPhone vs Android debate, what's the point. As long as Android users and iPhone users are happy with their platforms... that's all that matters.

I have always liked the Windows Phone UI, with Live Tiles, and stuff. If iOS 14 looks a little bit like Windows Phone that's cool by me.

At the end of the day, smartphone OS's in general are are so alike now, there's only so much a design team can do. Make phone calls, send and receive texts, do e-mails, surf the web, use GPS navigation, play music, etc...

Seems you can't go wrong with either, I think stock vanilla Android 11 is and will be great, and it seems iOS 14 has the much needed updates and revisions a lot of people have been looking for, and iOS has come a long way.
