I'm on 3.1.2 jailbreak with blackrain and i have issues where i might have full bars of wifi but nothing is comming through the only way i can fix this is if i start loading on 3G then enable wifi again.

Pros:
--Battery life vastly improved over last OS update, which gave me maybe 4-6 hours; now 6-8
--No "coma" issues

Cons:
--Phone vibrate function has not worked since the update
--Smart playlists still screwed up unless I uncheck "Live Updating" each time before I sync.

My battery life has become worse since 3.1.2 and WiFi signal is still not at its best. The iPhone itself is a bit smoother but far from smooth like it was on 2.2.1!

I have discovered new ringtones though like Timba Drum, don't know if they came with 3.0 already.

There are a couple that look new to me, but I haven't used a stock ringtone since the day after I originally got my phone in July '08. I don't know what did and did not come with OS updates.
Piano Riff, Pinball, Sonar, Strum, Timba; they all don't look familar.

Like I said though, I haven't really checked out the stock ringtones since shortly after I got my phone.

Are you my twin?

Just gimme that "macrumors Demi-Goddess" and I sure will be :D

Sorry if I almost repeated your post but I just wanted to emphasize that there is a long way to go to reach the level of smoothness again which 2.2.1. gave us.

Sometimes I really regret upgrading to OS 3, 2.2.1 had an excellent battery life and no sluggishness. D'oh!

I don't like 3 either… I downgraded to 2.2.1. Now my iPhone is as smooth as an iPhone 3GS without copy and paste. Oh well. I'd rather have a fast responsive phone instead of a sluggish stuttery system.

I have a factory unlocked Hong Kong 3gs and I live in Taiwan, HK and China. I have custom IPCC for all those countries. Has any tried this? Not ATT
Thanks in advance

I never used IPCC but tethering works on factory unlocked HK 3GS with new OS3.1.2

I would downgrade too if it was still possible without jailbreaking and stuff... Besides, I already have apps 3.0+ only which I can't "live" without anymore. Lucky you I guess :)

Since 3.1.2 i am unable to get into my iphone camera roll on my windows vista Home premium 64 bit Desktop. Can't think of a fix for this issue.

For the record... New carrier file has no effect on VoIP over 3G.

It's entirely based in the app. The carrier has no way to classify VoIP data differently than any other 3G data.

The reason apps don't run over 3G is that Apple doesn't approve any VoIP apps that will work over 3G. Now that AT&T said they will allow it, Apple needs to adjust their rules to allow the developers to enable it.

NOTHING to do with the Carrier Settings. Jailbroken phones have been doing VoIP over 3G for a while with no fake carrier files.

Since upgrading I now get worse 3G coverage. Actually, it now spends more time out of 3G than in 3G. Things were better before OS 3....seems like these upgrades are more downgrades than anything else.

Yeah, and everyone jumps on my case because I said that 3.0 wasn't as smooth as 2.2.1.

I tested out 3.1.2 and it's still not as smooth as 2.2.1 and Mail and Voice Memos still stutters terribly, but it's getting a little better. Each update has been a tiny bit smoother, but still nothing like 2.2.1.

Oh well. I guess that's Apple's new thing.

Still waiting for the side-by-side video.

You're tripping. An OS isn't going to negate a 2x faster iPhone.

try doing a settings reset on yur phone to fix permisions, maybe something is wrong in those regards.

The graphics are smooth in 2.2.1 like the iPhone 3GS. That's why I like it. It feels like I'm using an iPhone 3GS with how silky the animations are.
