Definitely the XS Max was my favorite of all time. used to be a “phablet” phone hater but decided to try out the XS Max. figured i could buy and then sell it and not lose a lot of money if i didn’t like it after like a month or two. Within 3 weeks, i was in love with the size and have never gone back to a smaller model.

Still has to be one of my favorite iPhone designs of all time. Seriously thinking of getting the iPhone Air as my secondary phone since i feel like the Air is like a spiritual successor to the XS Max.

13 Pro Max has to be second favorite for the 120hz and crazy good battery life. although, I will forever regret not getting Sierra Blue (got gold instead).

Lastly, while i like the performance and cameras of the 17 Pro Max, the downgrade from titanium to aluminum has been a bigger deal to me than i thought. For the first time since the iPhone 6S, i’m going to have to get a case because aluminum is super soft. i honestly can’t believe how soft it is. If it wasn’t for my great carrier trade in deal, i would’ve returned the 17PM and stuck with my 16PM. first time i haven’t been happy with my upgrade.

also you can see that when i was younger didn’t really have the funds to buy brand new but managed to get great deals on 1 year old iphones. eventually in 2021 have been able to buy new

3G, 4S, 7, 14 pro, 14 pro max. Apple AI underwhelming as is the 17 PM, plus my 14 PM has a newish battery still at 98%, so I’ll hold out til maybe the IP 18 PM (if the revamped Siri is even released by then 🤣).

Not entirely sure. Started with the 3G and skipped a couple of models.

But the iPhone X has been the longest used, based on photos taken, about 4,7xx followed by the iPhone 13 Pro at 4,2xx photos.

Only the 7 was new. Good phone. I still have the SE and the XS but the XS is dead.

Love the SE. I really like the size of that phone but sadly with 16GB and the battery that is a disaster is really difficult to use it

~~~
The iPhone 5 was stunning when it arrived. Last one overseen by Steve Jobs. Unibody design, jewel-like precision, Lightning port replacing the clumsy Dock Connector, 1 GB of RAM for the first time, LTE data for the first time, 8-megapixel camera, Assisted GPS with GLONASS. When iOS 7 arrived with 64-bit, AirDrop, and Jony Ive’s colour palette, it looked and felt like alien tech. This phone is recognisably modern even now. It did almost everything we still do with our phones today, except a lot of it was brand new to that phone. I splurged on the top storage tier to fit my music collection.
The iPhone SE was more of the same. I got it because I loved the old 5 form factor. It had the A9 chip and 2 GB of RAM, which was a massive leap in performance over the A8, never mind my iPhone 5’s A6. Stupidly fast and long battery life. Great phone, but not revolutionary or as ahead of the curve as the peerless 5.
The 13 mini attracted me for my usual reasons: small size and weight, a leap in performance, RAM jump to 4 GB, long battery life (hard to remember now, but true at the time), great camera. The new (to me) Face ID and lack of a Home button was mostly a downgrade and annoying, but added some display area. I now had Spotify for music, but even the base storage of 128 GB would have contained my old music collection anyway. This phone did not age as well as my previous two iPhones. It didn’t have enough display size and battery capacity to escape the ensh!ttification of the web and apps. And Apple’s slow decline in software quality, feature-bloat to keep up with Android, and endless chopping and changing of basics like timers and alarm clocks started to take a toll on my enjoyment of the iPhone.
I recently got the iPhone Air after multiple attempts to get a decent screen. The one I kept is merely OK and a clear downgrade from my 13 mini screen. On the plus side, the screen is large, the A19 Pro is a beast, there’s now 12 GB of RAM, the storage speed is incredible, and the new form factor with unnecessary features removed is finally some fresh thinking for the iPhone. Would it be too much to hope for a similarly pared-down, de-cluttered iOS? Probably, but I hope.
I wish I could remember all the phones I had pre-iPhone (worked for a telco so went through them like a kid in a candy store). But of all the pre-iPhone phones I’ve had, this was my absolute favourite:
Tried the 6S Plus but gave up and that was me away from iPhone until the 12 Pro Max about 5 years later.
iPhone SE 2 (red)
iPhone 13 mini (blue)
iPhone 17 pro (orange)
I used to think my beloved 5c was my favorite, literally until the writing of this post. But as I ponder it I remember that the 4S was the last iPhone I’ve ever owned that had no compromises. I got it the first week, so it was the very top model of its time. Best camera, best screen, best design, all that. Perfect size, perfect weight, perfect materials at the time. Used it without a case, without a screen protector, it never broke on me. Loved it to death.
Around the iPhone 6, every choice of iPhone had a compromise. Either it had lesser tech than another model, or it was bigger and heavier than I wanted, or even it had lesser colors. This phone I’m tapping on right now, a new 17 pro, is the most advanced technology I’ve ever owned…but it can’t be my favorite, because even this amazing phone has some compromises.
Perhaps I also fondly remember a simpler time when we didn’t demand so much from our phones.
(2025) iPhone 17 - 256GB White (iOS 26)
I've used Androids between the 4, SE, 7 and 11:
I ended up selling the 4 because it was unbearable on iOS 7
Lost the SE in a car drift, my friend was driving, I had my iPhone in my hand next to the open window, he took a sharp turn too fast, my SE flew into a 3 meter tall cornfield - impossible to find it and I couldn't locate it with iCloud, neither could we hear it ring when we called it (in fact it didn't ringed at all, straight to the voicemail)
Lost the 7 in a rave
And I've been using iPhones ever since I brought my 11 back in 2020)
I think my favourites were the SE and the 13 mini by far, I couldn't think of any flaw in the SE 1st gen, it was really a true flagship in a small package with no compromise.
And the 13 mini reminded me of the SE actually, obviously in a newer design and current features but I absolutely loved how compact it was, you could actually use it one handed without having to do fingers gymnastics, but its abysmal battery life, lack of 120Hz and lack of storage space finally made me retire it
*a week in 2024: Asus Zenphone 10. Immediately went back to the iPhone.
I really loved all of my phones (aside from the Asus), so it was hard to pick favorites. I deeply miss the Jobs era design in both software and hardware. Part of that is nostalgia, but a part of that is genuine preference. So to a degree, my least favorite was the X which was huge. Yet at the same time, it was such an exciting feeling to have a phone that felt like it was all screen!
Skipped to android for a while with some rooting and romming, got tired of doing that though.
15PM
17PM
Favorite? I'd guess my 6S Plus, I am enjoying the 17PM but it's too soon to tell.
I loved the 15PM when I got it but it ran hot doing anything and the battery really degraded fast, was a turn off and almost went back to Android.
I'd like to see Apple do a hybrid material phone, aluminum back with a titanium edge/ring. Get the strength of the titanium and the cooling of the aluminum. The 17PM feels good in the hand with the rounded edges but the aluminum is weaker and it's just slick to hold as well.
