I'd have taken an option of a click and collect service to my local store over having to get up before 6am every morning to check stock.

That way, everyone could be in the same queue on a first ordered first delivered basis, but people wanting the upgrade program would have the device delivered to the store instead of their house.
Yes, I could live with that. It's just the need to constantly check that drives me crazy. They do seem to be making changes to the website for reservations, but still not sure it's any easier!

What kind of changes? I'm still using the upgrade program link to check stock. Any hope for tomorrow?(20th sep)

I have used a script to monitor it every 5 seconds - this morning there is NOT a single 7+ Black or Jet Black available..

Yep. No black 7 plus anywhere. Just checked
yesterday i checked stock at 6am, no plus so i carried on with my morning. I get to work for 9am then check again and there's a 32gb plus in black at my local store. That tells me they're getting drop shipments in the morning which aren't showing up at first light. Its worth checking throughout the morning.

Thanks, works ok but can I reserve a SIM-free phone with this link? I am not sure I understand the concept of "upgrade"

Yah. If you reserve here, they'll still ask you how you want to pay when you pick it up. Just tell them you want to pay outright rather than with the Upgrade Program. Plenty of people have done that.

Thank you very much! How do I use a script to know the available stock? I mean the availability of 7 plus and jet black? thanks to you I can go back to sleep in a minute rather than refreshing that dead link every second

The system is completely stupid!

Why not just have us sign up to a waiting list for a specific model and then email/phone us when it becomes available.

This whole jumping through hoops, refreshing their website at specific times etc is ridiculous!

Admittedly these are all 1st World, Early adopter problems.... but still is pain in the ass!

Fabulous... so a few more of the 'impossible to find' upgrade programme appointments are now gone to people just trying to buy a phone.

Upgrade programme - might as well forget it!

Have to say this is very disappointing, it appears UK Apple Stores have had no new stock and certainly none of the Plus models. Whilst the US and Canadian stores have, it's typical of Apple to look after their North American customers far better but it still stinks.

Hey, I'm just stating what's possible. I too am waiting for an Upgrade Programme reservation. But people are definitely taking up reservations just to buy outright, which I can't fully agree with. Next year IUP customers should get automatic reservations based on specifically reserved stock.

I have no concept of how this works or how I use it.

It won't work.

The availability.json stream no longer reflects actual stock. The 7+ models won't appear there when they will appear in the new hardened stock checker which is much more resilient to attempts to automate parsing.

Have you got an example of this? When I last checked, Apple's stock checker was using the availability.json file.

Something has definitely changed with their own reservation page, but I don't know the technicalities of it. I believe from Monday it seemed to change the way it was showing stores with available reservations. Also the available reservations seem to continuously jump around through the day, so either stock is being added intra-day or something else has changed.

My own experience, script I'd been running wasn't seeing 7+ models that were showing using the new stock tracker.

The stock tracker that will give you errors unless you have the right session cookies (https://reserve-gb.apple.com/GB/en_GB/reserve/iPhone?execution=e1s1) which are set when you follow the reserve link from the iPhone Upgrade Program page shows different stock for the 7+ than the availability.json - and that stock checker is no longer using the JSON.

Same system was being used by this checker, see the updated message: https://code.gladdy.uk/iphone/ and discussion on twitter https://twitter.com/lgladdy/status/777808221012623360

The whole IUP thing has been a joke. Funny enough it's not this year that I'm worried about but next year when they release the next iphone with supposedly all the bells and whistles.

I've said it before the issue is a simple one 'Demand' and chances are history will repeat itself. Next year if I'm on the IUP or not I'll be preordering outright online as a starting point.

In America they don't mess around, Apple fail to deliver and law suits follow. Over here it seems the IUP is just a tick box excerise. Even the top UK Apple executives are clueless and powerless as to what's going o.

Just checked it out, you're totally right. Damn.

Not sure I can be bothered to update my scripts or not.

Thanks for the heads up.
