Sweet!

I love the posting of the SIM card access. So now when I go to the AT&T store and they tell me I can't change the SIM from my old phone to the iPhone, I'll do it myself. :)

Damn it - it is looking more and more likely that the iPhone does not support SSL-encrypted POP and IMAP. What gives, Apple?

I thought Gmail was SSL encrypted and that is clearly supported - if it is supported with Gmail, I'd be surprised if it wasn't supported with other email services.

doesn't look like the calendar has event reminders. that kinda sucks...i use that feature all the time cause i'm always forgetting to do stuff.

Um - sure it does - the one screen shot shows 2 alerts on the one event - something like 2 hours before and 15 minutes before... and don't forget your frisbee!

That name comes from the cell tower the phone is currently using. They are still converting tower names, my area was just done the other week.

I'll have to agree. My T-Mobile Blackberry that was unlocked to work on Cingular's network still says Cingular on it, and I am in NYC!

Seems like you Americans have been shafted for a very long time in regards to mobile phones. Therefore it seems fair that you get the iPhone first.

Exchange? Bleh..

I would love to know if they plan to support Lotus Domino! Would be cool to be able to get my work email on my iPhone and shelf my Blackberry. :D

:apple: :apple: :apple:

Hopefully you're right, I can't wait much longer :D

But I guess it depends on how long it takes the carrier to set up Visual Voicemail etc. I could live without that though!

Engadget are quoting a source claiming that a euro iPhone will be announced on Monday for shipment in Q4. Sold through carphone warehouse on a MVNO using a combined t-mobile/vodaphone network.

Well, it looks as if one of my major hopes has been dashed. I was really hoping the calculator would have an RPN option for input. That alone would have added at least $100 to the iPhone's "value," to me. RPN calculators are not cheap - this would have been a great feature. Oh well, maybe it is buried in the options...

Still looking forward to getting one -hopefully- tonight.

Funny, I was hoping it'd have a TI-89 emulator mode. You know, if you even know what RPN is, you've got a better chance of writing one into a Web 2.0 app than the rest of us.

Yeah I noticed that too!!
How long have they had those?! And they wait until NOW to release them?

yeah! has ThinkSecret been saving these until NOW?
obviously something has occurred because they say CINGULAR!
and isn't our beautiful little buddy supposed to say AT&T?
with nine hours left, come on! ahh nine hours!
hey, on the email will i be able to set up Hotmail?

Probably not. Hotmail uses htmlmail protocol or something like that. It's not IMAP or POP. I had to download a special plug-in to get it to work with Mail on my roommates new mac.

It won't work, I mean, you can put it in, but it won't operate--that was already covered one of the reviews, Mossberg's I think. You can, however, put the SIM card from the iPhone into another unlocked AT&T phone.

I agree...but I don't think we've seen it all...consider the Cingular logo...I think these are old shots...tonight will tell!
It could be like the Treo for this feature...the default is a simple calculator, but it has about 8 or so variants providing for various options from financial to conversions. etc. (no RPN), but ...?

Here's the more interesting part...

Exchange support is TO BE provided by Visto (a 3rd party developer) and in their press release it states:

So the feature will be available at some cost (not so good) but it's CLEAR evidence that 3rd party NON-Apple developed software will be on it's way (with the approval of Apple no doubt) and I'm not just talking Web 2.0 apps.

Dave

Personally this is of NO interest to me, and I would suspect most corporate users who need access to Exchange. This image give us hope of true ActiveSync support instead of some 3rd party hack.

I was a bit worried about the authenticity of these due to the cingular logo but as someone pointed out, that info comes from the cell tower. My Cingular phone just yesterday switched and now says AT&T.

I nominate this most outrageous example of insane iPhone expectations ever. This was one of your MAJOR hopes? An RPN calculator? Were you also hoping it had a multivariable graphing option, as well as Derive built in?

I totally agree. What an absurd statement about the calculator.

To be fair, he did say hope, not expectation.

That said, I'd be very interested in an RPN option for the calculator as well.

Too Bad it's only on ATT&T

I'm not buying one because of the whole AT&T services thing, but wow - It looks better than any smartphone os I have ever seen!
