It looks like the future is written for the SE. At least for the current form factor, that will no longer be included. But let me just say that I think it’s great that Apple did bring the iPhone SE to the market when they did back in March 2016, considering that most smart phone manufacturers have moved away from the 4 inch smart phone to larger displays. At least they offer the SE for a limited time tjan not at all.

I'm just happy they held on as long as they did. I'm gonna run down today and snatch up a few of these to cover the next 3 or 4 phones in my life. Anyways even if they bring it back, it'll never have the headphone jack, which is by far the best feature a smartphone can have.

You guys have any luck on End of Life pricing so far?

I was there yesterday and the lady was very nice but she recommended waiting as the pricing in their system at the Apple Store still hadn't been updated for EoL and the 128GB SE's were still $449

"They might for a year or two, but the hardware is already long in the tooth, and at some point, they're just not going to be very useful."

I *HATE* that this will happen. Is therer anything I can do to pro-long my SE for more years? Jailbreak? Not upgrade the OS? I have used this phone the most of any phone I have ever had.

It depends on the carrier and market due to LTE banding. Even the X and 8 are outdated on T-Mobile due to B71, but the SE lacks B30, B66, and B14 and in some markets, like NYC, having at least B30 is key for capacity. With Verizon choosing small cells and densification over buying new spectrum, it should be OK for longer, even though it doesn't have B66.

From a software update perspective, it should be good for several years, and when it gets stuck, it gets stuck. From an app perspective, it depends on the apps you use, and how much they need a larger screen. Some may be fine for several more years with smaller screens, others may have a lousy UX with the smaller screen.

What about the SE for AT&T?

Is the 8 outdated for AT&T? Was considering getting one to use around the house to limit use on my SE, as much of my usage is at home.

Like I said in the post above, the SE lacks B30, B66, and B14. I have the S7, which doesn't have B66 or B14, but it uses B30 heavily, and it's towards the end of it's life, so my next phone will have all of AT&T's bands.

EDIT: According to Apple's website, the 8 has B30 and B66, but not B14. The Qualcomm version (SIM free) will work better than the AT&T/Intel version.

I am not worried about cellular service. Just being able to eventually use the SE on WiFi for Safari or using the SE as an iPod Touch.

Too late for me, bought a new backup SE before they shut it down.

They didn’t shut it down. It’s still on their website listed alongside the other models, and sold at third party retailers, just not directly from Apple. I wouldn’t be surprised if they continue manufacturing the SE and selling it in territories like India, as is, for several more years. So if you really need a new SE in the future, you’ll likely be able to get one for a few more years.

If there is a new SE, it’ll be at least 6 months away, and definitely won’t be sold at the same price the old one was. It also won’t have a headphone jack. So, depending on your reasons for buying it, you probably did the right thing.

Maybe not now, ATT has pushed my order back a month now and I have a feeling they won't get it done.

Anybody know where I can get a Gray 128 SE new in box?

I think apple has still lots of SE ...
a friend of mine got his defective SE "repaired" by apple - and got a new one. Checking it with coconut battery showed that the "new one" has been produced in March 2017 !

I bought a 64GB SE 2 years ago (64GB was the max of memory at that time) and will guard it as a backup Phone. Bought a brand-new 128GB about 1 month ago.

It seems that in Europe there are still a lot of SE available...
