@exoticSpice As I’ve already said, the 3 kernel panics I’ve had over the past 2 months aren’t a big enough deal to me to replace the device and I’m optimistic a software update will fix this issue for everyone.

I wasn’t aware this was officially logged by Apple as being fixed with 15.5 until now (glad they’re getting on top of it), but here’s a screen cap of the top of the panic report from this morning which shows I’m on 15.5:

can you upload the "panic String" part? the rest is not necessary, it is to see if it is the same kernel panic that the rest of us have. in the image you can not see the cause of the kernel panic

I’m not sure what part to paste, but the report is reaaaallllyyyy long with: TH_SFLAG_THROTTLED repeating in multiple areas. The other two logs were smaller, so maybe it’s unrelated. I was not using the iPhone when it crashed. I will email it to Apple.

Either way, I’m glad to read the issue is more than likely software related, and hopefully has been addressed for most of you with 15.5

Like @jav6454 I don’t recall having iPhone crashes until these three.

"panicString": "panic (cpu 1 caller Oxffff*f02183d218): DCP PANIC
poll reg timeout - iomfb_ap_callee_2(20) OUTBOX not ready\npoll reg

the error is that, it is practically at the beginning of the registry, it is always the same error. I attached a photo of this same post

You error is:
DCP PANIC
poll reg timeout - iomfb_ap_callee_2(20) OUTBOX not ready\npoll reg ???

@thejavigames It’s a different “Sleep/Wake hang detected” error

"panicString" : "panic(cpu 0 caller 0xfffffff010d67a90): Sleep\/Wake hang detected @IOPMrootDomain.cpp:12600\nDebugger message: panic\nMemory ID: 0x6\nOS release type: User\nOS version: 19F77\nKernel version: Darwin Kernel Version 21.5.0: Thu Apr 21 21:51:30 PDT 2022; root:xnu-8020.122.1~1\/RELEASE_ARM64_T8110\nKernel UUID: 51B6F367-55AC-3B6C-8EB6-78F02BF702A2\niBoot version: iBoot-7459.120.62.0.3\nsecure boot?: YES\nPaniclog version: 13

Well, Apple listened, 2 months after, but it's better than nothing, i'm really happy to see that in the patch note of iOS 15.5, let's see next!

About that "Sleep Wake hang" error, among every panic_kernel i've had, those being Outbox not ready, I got ONE Sleep Wake Hang, don't know what this is, but that's probably another bug not specific to SE, or a very rare bug, something like that

Random, but... anyone using a physical SIM card and having these kernel panics? That was the only difference I can think of between my replacement iPhone SE and the one that was having kernel panics. I was using eSIM--this replacement is physical SIM. No kernel panics.

I was using physical sim and had kernel panics.

If you’ve upgraded to 15.5 hopefully you won’t have any more regardless of sim. Change log says it was fixed.

Found the changelog. Nice!

Despite the changelog showing a fix, has anyone experienced anymore panics like CE3 since upgrading to 15.5?

I think it’s a good sign this thread has quieted down since the update, and the last panic I reported appears to be unrelated to this issue.

I haven’t had any panics since that day (and I use the SE3 all the time), so hopefully it’s been addressed now ?

Can somebody report on this issue after updating to iOS 15.5?

To answer my own question, it hasn’t been fixed. I had this today

Kernel panics can happen for many different reasons.

Based on my own experience, and the lack of reports from others, it is safe to say that the issue this thread was originally intended to address has been resolved. It is highly likely that the kernel panic you saw is completely unrelated.

I don’t know what happened lately (I didn’t update anything) but I started having a lot of apps hanging, even settings hangs for good 20-30 seconds and doesn’t respond to the touch. I closed the app from the app switcher, relaunched it, it was still frozen but after 20-30 seconds everything was back to normal.

More strange things happened: settings became frozen, closing and opening seemed to unstuck it, but now wifi toggle is greyed out.

@g75d3 your recent reports indicate it’s the same “Sleep/Wake hang detected” panic I had on May 18th. It seems the kernel panic issue that was addressed with 15.5 was different. I haven’t had a panic since that day, but that’s interesting. If you continue to have frequent crashes I would contact Apple and get the device replaced.

Sadly, I’ve had kernel panics and reboots a lot lately.

Still on 15.4

I think mom might inherit this iPhone (she barely does more than make calls and I want something more stable.)
You should update to iOS 15.5, as it apparently solved a lot of kernel panics in this thread (not all tho).

Or even better, as soon as Apple releases iOS 15.6, update or make a clean install.

My iPhone 12 Pro updated… had same issue for several months. Frequency increased. Brought it to apple yesterday and was given a new phone.

No issues yet.

Again considering an iPhone SE. Just want a simple and smaller phone, but this with the kernel panics has made me wait.

Anyone want to update on how it's been going? Does everything work as it should now or have you experienced more kernel panics?

Hello,
I used to run into the kernel panic so often on my iPhone SE3. However, since the iOS 15.5 update (around May 2022), it never happened to me anymore. Apple actually listed this as a fixed item in the iOS 15.5 release notes. All good now and I have been enjoying my iPhone SE3!

Cheers
