Curious why the device dimensions are not exactly the same as the iPhone 14
I agree, I think it will be $549. By the time this launches, the 14 will drop to the $599 price point that the 13 currently occupies. Both the SE 1 and SE 2 undercut the phones the succeeded by $50, costing $399 compared to $449 for the 5s and 8.At least $499
This 100%. Just upgraded from the SE 2nd Gen to the 3rd Gen. Every time I try to care about one of the flagship iPhones, I remember there is no TouchID. End of thought. You can have my Touch ID when you pry it from my cold, dead thumb.

That’s what the rumored a18 pro might be able to do, but you’ll payI would love to upgrade my xs. Not sure if an SE4 will be the right one for me. I may just hold onto this thing until GPT-quality AI becomes hardcoded into a phone and can run offline.

Yea, Apple was heavily criticized when they launched the SE 3 being basically an iPhone 8 with an A15 and 4GB of RAM (and 5G), but this device is actually covering a niche of people that really appreciate the form factor. My older relatives flat out can't use a phone without TouchID/Home Button
They get "lost" constantly on iOS and that one big single button is their lifeline
I can't believe Apple is going to totally nuke it as an option on one single model
Too niche for 2024 Apple, I guess.
IDK about that. I remember in the iPhone 3/4/5 days when your options were the white iphone or the black iphone and that was it lol.The whole company lineup just keeps getting narrower in appeal and optionality

It would take (some) attention (and sales) away from the iPhone 16 release.Would it not make sense for this to get a September release this year so that the 14 and 13 can be dropped for an all- USB-C lineup?
it would also create natural price tiers.
Those are more "pro" features
What a crock all this artificial segmentation is.
Put things like the action button EVERYWHERE -- so EVERYONE can use it and Devs can really target it and take advantage of it. It's a button for goodness sakes -- a button!
Because, as Apple has learned time and time again, bigger phones sell more than small phones. Why do we have to keep increasing the size of the phone.
That does make sense. It would take (some) attention (and sales) away from the iPhone 16 release.
Past iPhone SE releases always came after the main iPhone release.
iPhone 6s / 6s Plus with A9 SoC announced September 2015
iPhone SE (1st gen) with A9 SoC announced March 2016
iPhone 11 with A13 SoC announced September 2019
iPhone SE (2nd gen) with A13 SoC announced April 2020
iPhone 13 with A15SoC announced September 2021
iPhone SE (3rd gen) with A15 SoC announced March 2022
which means
iPhone 16 announced September 2024
iPhone SE (4th gen) announced March or April 2025?
The question is what SoC will the 4th gen iPhone SE use, an A16, A17, or A18?
Because big phones sell more than small phones. But the SE has always been smaller than the other iPhones, so why not now?
Smaller because they reused chassis from previous versions. There is no smaller device in the lineup anymore to do that with anymore, sadly. But the SE has always been smaller than the other iPhones, so why not now?
My guess would be A17, which is what the iPhone 16 is getting. I believe Apple has so far chosen the latest base SoC for the SE models due to the gap between refreshes. It would take (some) attention (and sales) away from the iPhone 16 release.
