The 8 Plus sold more than the 8 though, no?
Maybe... But that design wasn’t only about the 8 vs 8 Plus. There were the 7, 6S and 6. A long history of a popular form factor. That’s what the SE is based on.

I've got a Pixel 6a and a 2022 iPhone SE. The lowly LCD display on the iPhone SE never has a problem scrolling but the Pixel 6a with its amazing OLED display (that I can't read outside), stutters when scrolling.
Ohhh I hated that about my old Androids. I had 6 of them. Now I ask myself why. I know the answer. It was trying to save money. Trying. But they have such a short life and you have lacklustre performance during that life.

I’m sure LCD needs slightly different hardware in terms of bezels etc and if they’re basically using the 14 chassis then to me it makes sense to simply use its screen too, that way they can have all their current phones on OLED and can stop with LCD screens altogether…

Plus all the rumours are pointing to OLED and I doubt they’re all wrong about something so fundamental.

Never say never though!

This looks better

If it doesn't have touch ID I'm out, I had been buying the top model until they went full face id... been buying the SE since then.
I don't want face ID, I don't like it, its less convenient for me. Just give me the iPad esque lock button with Touch ID!!!
Been looking at alternatives just in case but I really don't want to have to move after 20 years!
