What sane person would buy the SE over the 11? Don't tell me it's about size because the SE isn't that small.

The only people buying iPhone SE are people who can't afford the 11 or 11 Pro but NEED to show off about owning an iPhone because they are shallow so go for the basic, dated, terrible bezels, cheap model.

If I could only afford $399 I would not be buying the SE when the Pixel 3a/4a and Galaxy A51/A71 dump all over it in design, display and camera.

My friend bought the SE last week. He had an iPhone XR and found it to be a bit big and bulky so the smaller size is perfect for him.

But if it was me choosing between the 2 I would go with the 11 but only because I prefer a bigger phone to use.

LOL the SE is pretty darn small coming from an 11. I should know, I had one that I sold because I wanted a smaller, lighter phone, and I can certainly afford any to buy any phone Apple makes.

I sold my 11 (had the XR before that - haven‘t had luck with OLED) to get the SE2. There are things I really enjoyed about that bigger screen, but I was just ready for something easier to handle, use one-handed, etc. We still have a house full of 11s, and an XR, and when I hold them now, they feel gigantic to me. It’s funny how quickly you adjust to things.

I vote for the SE 2. Why? I've always been partial to the big iPhones since the 6S Plus. If you're the same way, definitely take a close look at the new SE 2. The phone is tiny but very usable, and it's a delight to carry in front or back pockets. The screen is brilliant and sharp, and is best described as "petite," not small or cramped. And my God, the thing is thin and light. Absolutely worth a look, even if you can afford something more massive. The only downside I'm experiencing so far is battery life, but I haven't done the entire battery/power troubleshooting routine yet.

I totally agree. I’m super excited to see what the 5.4 will have to offer in the fall. If it doesn’t weigh much more than the SE2, it’s likely my dream phone at this point. If it does weigh considerably more, I’ll be sticking with my SE2.

My friend is a billionaire and he just purchased a new SE. So much for your "theory".

I work with my hands. Touch ID is ok.. if you don’t have cuts on your finger, a bandaid on, fingers that aren’t water logged. Get a cut on your finger and you have to re enter your print to match your new one. Touch ID is balls. Face ID works great. I don’t wear a mask because I don’t deal with the public.

There's no "design, display, and camera" improvements that could make up for my phone not working seamlessly with the rest of my devices/services.

For people who work with their hands, FaceID will be better for sure. More broadly, both have advantages and disadvantages. Hopefully some day soon we'll see an iPhone that has both, so the user can choose (or even enable both for added security if you want).

This. The iPhone is more of an accessory to the iPad. Number one criteria is Continuity with my iPads so Android's not an option. Besides, most Android phones are too big for my liking anyway.

Got an iPhone SE2 to tide me over until 5.4" iPhone 12 release.

Not to get too off topic here, but I’m just curious from looking at your signature - what do you use the three different iPads for?

I alternate between Air 3 and Pro 10.5 so I always have one available while the other is charging as well as spreading out battery wear. The Pro 10.5's battery isn't all that great now.

The Pro 12.9, I often use as a 3rd screen in the office for emails, messages and stuff (with Logitech K780 keyboard + MX Ergo Plus trackball). Although, really just bought it so I can read American comics in 2-page spread without constant zooming and panning. Also for when I want to use split view with Tablet UI on both windows.

I'm not a heavy phone user at all. With nighttime reading (sometimes into the wee hours), I probably log 12-16 hours combined on the iPads per day.

My last phone was the XS that I paid outright for ($1500 Canadian new) and before that I had the S10... price has nothing to do with me moving to the SE. The SE is substantially smaller and lighter than the 11/11 pro, X/XS and is monumentally easier for me to use in one hand. Touch ID is highly responsive and consistent plus the screen looks excellent. Apple has done a great job of optimizing their LCD technology. Your world seems very black and white, not to mention shallow on judgemental.

Gotcha, thanks for the reply. Just curious.

This is one of the most asinine things that I have ever read. Intelligent people save their money instead of burning it on things they do not need.

Don't throw rocks if you live in a glass house. No one buys an iPhone SE to show off that they have an iPhone. Perhaps you are trying to show off that you have an iPhone Pro? "...they are shallow..." Re-read your post my friend, because your accusation of shallowness is reflected directly upon yourself in the daftness of your words.

My SE 128GB cost me $250 bucks, and I'm laughing all the way to the bank. Who in their right mind would spend $1,000+ dollars on a phone? That is insane and stupid. Typical consumerism. I can afford an iPhone Pro. I do not need an iPhone Pro. What I need is a fat bank account so I can buy your assets at a discount when the bank takes it all away because of your poor financial habits.

Trolling aside, the SE is a very capable phone, and Walmart is running one hell of a deal for it for AT&T and Verizon customers. It's the smart money move to make.

I can see the SE being a ripper. A13 heart, 720p resolution, less hardware to drive so an overall lower system overhead should make it pretty snappy. Your basically getting a stripped down iPhone in a recycled body for a fair price.

My vote would be for the 11

better battery, Newer interface and UX, larger screen
camera is much better And has Night mode and ultra wide

I would say go for SE 2020 only if budget is a serious consideration otherwise the 11 gets my vote

Iikaros, thank you for your perfectly educated response to this very misguided person.

In terms of 11 vs SE, both are excellent phones that have their respective place in Apples product lines. SE for those who prefer smaller phones, the classic form factor (Touch ID) and good camera with budget pricing as a bonus. 11 for those who want the larger screen phone with modern all screen Face ID interface and more camera features, but costs about £300 more than the SE but less than the Pro models. Both of these phones have the A13 Bionic SoC and have 326ppi retina LCD screens. Me personally, I prefer the SE as I don’t like the the notched screen at all and prefer to use fingerprint authentication. That being said I do greatly appreciate the function of Face ID and it’s attention awareness features.
