Automatic Brightness

I find it amazing that it's August 2011 and some users still don't know how to use "Automatic Brightness". Most guides even tell users to disable it, and many even assume that the sensor is broken!

But it actually works. What it does is make sure the screen is bright enough and still legible without the user ever touching settings.

To reduce brightness with Automatic Brightness on, switch the phone off, then back on, and unlock it, then the brightness of the screen will be reset based on the current lighting that the sensor picks up. From then on, if the user goes out to a brighter are, the screen will be set to a higher brightness level and will stay that way until the phone is re-unlocked again.

So make a habit of locking/unlocking the phone regularly if you travel between radically dark and radically bright areas often.

I was searching for facebook app and reading reviews, i found "Facebook for Android" App user friendly and it has various functions, but the problem is it's an Android App, not iphone App so how could i install it on my iphone?? is there any way?

When typing, here's a quick way to input a period. Click on the .?123 button and slide your finger over to the period (or comma) and release. A period will be written, and the keyboard will go back to letters. Alternatively, click the .?123 button with your left thumb and tap the period button with the other. Again, you'll get the period and the keyboard will switch back to letters.

Tech help - adding a photo to a contact

iPhone 4s
Photo Stream off

Take a photo on the phone
Go to a contact then "edit" "add Photo"
Select "Choose Photo" Choose photo in Camera Roll
Message "Saving Photo"
Tap "Done"
Photo stays in contact for about 5-10 seconds then disappears

If I go back to edit - add photo - there is nothing there

What's the problem?

You can use the same charger. But the reverse is not necessarily true. The iPhone charger is only 1 Amp while the iPad charger is 5 Amps. Charging an iPad with an iPhone charger is a slow process.

How to Fix Your iPhone Home Button

Because we use the Home button so often on iOS devises, its speed usually gets slower and thus irritating.

Luckily, there's a way to fix it. Open one of your standard applications (e.g. weather, clock, stocks), and continue to press the sleep button until the power off slider appears.

From there, you just continue to press the Home button until your standard application is shut down. And now your home button should be working fine!

I am expecting to buy my first iPhone in a few months (Yes I know I am five years late) So, ..since the carriers are inhibiting data caps, is it possible to turn off the service if you have WiFi, and still send and receive calls? OR does the entire thing shut off and I am reduced to using a VoIP app instead on WiFi? Thanks.

I may be naive but I would have thought the data and voice would be separate to use. Again this is my first iPhone... and smartphone all together

If iphone is connected to wifi it will transmit data over wifi instead of using cellular. I think that is what you were asking.

If iphone is connected to wifi it will transmit data over wifi instead of using cellular. I think that is what you were asking.

Moreover, I think he means "can you turn off cellular data altogether"? The answer is yes. You can find this option under Settings>General>Network. When you're connected to WiFi, feel free to turn off cellular data entirely to preserve your data plan.

When you've just taken a photo with the Camera app, you can swipe to the right to go to the photo you just took in your Camera Roll album. You can swipe to the left to go back to the camera. Even if you haven't taken a photo, you can swipe into and out of the Camera Roll album.

Note: If you start in the Photos app instead, you can't use this trick to go to the camera.

iMessage no phone number or wrong number

If you have an iPhone running iOS 5.* and for some strange reason (you switched phone numbers or phones) your iMessages app is only showing your e-mail address and not your phone number, or the wrong phone number, simply text Act1vate to +447537410277 (don't include the quotes). After that, turn iMessage on, and you're set!

No more "activation pending" or "unsuccessful"!
