Updated to 11.3 Beta 6 today from 11.2.2 and decided to check out the new Battery Health tab which said I have 99% capacity(however it was also stated that it could just be from usage).

I decided to check CoconutBattery and it claims I have lost some capacity. Seems a bit quick for the battery to be degrading so if it is a bad battery I'd like to take advantage of Apple's $29 battery repairs.

Many problems with what you are saying.

First, iPhone X does not qualify for the $29 replacement.

Second, Apple will not replace the battery of an iPhone X unless it’s under 80% health.

Third, 98-99% health is essentially a new battery condition. You can even get batteries that start at 96%, like my Air 2 and MacBook.

Lastly, you should only ever check the health when the battery is at 100% charged. Checking while charging causes strain and an inaccurate reading.

...states the X is covered.

OP doesn't have a problem though, at least not with his battery. 50:50 whether paying Apple $29 results in a battery with more actual capacity though...
That website has been updated since the program originally launched then. Even the Press Release from Apple specifically states 6, 6s and 7.

battery is poor try recording 4k 60 you will not get more than 2 hours

How is that at all relevant? Any device recording 4K has battery problems. Even 4K portable cameras.

“That website” is Apples own support page on the subject - what makes you think it is superseded?

Ah was not aware of this, I thought it was iPhone 6 and above. Sorry for that!

And alright that’s good to know, thanks

iPhone X is included in the USD 29 program. Please don’t make things up.

Edit: Misread this, my apologizes

The only way I am aware of to determine battery capacity is to measure energy delivered during charge, energy removed during discharge and actual state of charge (based on voltage). From those measurements you can determine actual battery capacity and compare it to the nominal design capacity. But battery capacity varies somewhat based on discharge current and the measuring devices in the phone are not laboratory grade and therefore are subject to calibration issues including over time and temperature.

Take that all into account and I would never expect totally accurate / repeatable capacity measurements from one day to the next. Especially not if the phone was not used in exactly the same manner from one measurement cycle to the next. And we don't even know how often the capacity measurement is updated. A displayed capacity plus or minus a couple percent for the same actual capacity seems very reasonable to me.

Where did I say superseded? I said they just have changed it since the PR statement back on January. Which is entirely possible. They update their sites almost daily. I think you completely misinterpreted my post.

Maybe, so you meant updated to include the X? Thats seems the only possibility - yep apologies I read you were saying the X still wasn't included.

Yes. Updated to include 8 and X. Originally Apple said it was only available for devices affected by throttling. So 6, 6s and 7.

Which I guess confirms that when they get to that stage of life, 8's and X's will be affected which is no real surprise :-(

The official press release said anyone with an iPhone 6 or later. I think what you’re referring to is them talking about the battery saving features, which the iPhone X doesn’t have yet because it won’t need them until iOS 12

I have used the genuine apple 29w USB-C and USB-C to Lightning cable to fast charge a handful of times.

I haven’t used it for at least a month though. I’m not concerned though as on current progress I’ll still be around 90% at 500 charges.

question.does anyone of you use fast wireless charger or non oem?im sure it will degrade the battery fast
The only thing that causes a battery to degrade faster is heat, cold and letting it constantly drop below 10%. As long as it’s not getting too hot from third party chargers then it’s fine. I know some of the new anker wireless chargers have a temperature control. It stops charging if it gets too hot.

If you've actually got the space for two+ hours of 4k video I take my hat off to you. When I went to Ireland earlier this month I recorded a bunch of 4k 30fps video and I was very glad I got the 256 gig iPhone 7+ because the drop in free space was very visible. But was glad I filmed those things in 4k.
[doublepost=1522172266][/doublepost]As far as charging percentage - try not using the big ipad brick charger to charge the phone for a few days. I've found my viable battery percentage improved when using the slower chargers.
