I’ve already took off all the apps in the background but the usage indicator keeps the same. Also my battery health was in 3~4 weeks ago 98%, now, its 92. And last Friday is was 93. It’s not normal....

I’m having this issue fairly consistently now on my 7+ running 11.3.1. A restart seems to fix it temporarily but it does come back fairly soon. I am also under the impression that it is not an application and is in fact a bug with iOS itself. Hoping that 11.4 fixes it but I have my doubts.

Guys, as already mentioned in my previous post:

- put the phone on charge (airplane mode on or not it doesn’t matter)

- before unplugging the cable, open WhatsApp (must be airplane mode off)

- enter any of your chats, once there unplug the cable.

PROBLEM SOLVED on 18 iPhone between iPhone X / 7 / 8..

It’s an iOS bug, you have nothing to lose trying this way, in my case I have no more issues at all..

Cheers

Same problem started happening for me on the iPhone SE iOS 10.3.3. Have had the phone for 10 months now and it only started happening last week.

I'm noticing the same problem on my brand new iphone 8, running 11.4. 15hr usage, 15 hour standby. Battery at 34%.

Reset
Reset Network Settings

Do the above while it is doing this, then after your next full charge it will go back to normal again for a while. Remember when you do this your phone now will forget ALL wifi passwords and you will have to sign in to any and all each time after you do this.

Thanks. But you say doing the above will make the form go back to normal "for a while". What might be causing the problem in the first place? Any way to ensure it's never seen again? I've seen some theorizing you need to find the offending app, but that seems tedious and also sort of defeats the purpose of the feature. You want it to accurately track your usage, not prevent you from using certain apps, or showing 15 hours of usage just because you've got "moves" step tracker running in the background all day or whatnot.

It is either an app or the IOS, but if it is an app then it is MANY apps because practically none of us have the same apps etc...So probably IOS issue but there is no permanent fix.

Distressing to hear. In any case, I turned off and then turned on the phone last night before plugging it in to charge overnight. No sign of the issue this morning, with 23 min usage, 2hr 9m standby.

Do you mean you powered it off before charging it? If I dont do a reset or complete power off it wont fix.

Yes. I turned off. Left it off for a few minutes while I did something else, turned it back on, then began charging it for the night while leaving it on as I normally do.

Yes turning off and turning it back on can fix the issues, but if the issue still persists then do the following above for reset network settings.

When I have this issue, I just do the reset network settings and that fixes my issue and doesn't come back until the next ios update and I do it again.

But then you need to keep on the setting telling you when WIFI networks are available as you wont be signed into any of them, i hate having that on

I always have have "Ask to join network" turned off and it even stays off after the reset. Plus it doesn't ask me what wifi networks are available as I have it off. For me it's not an issue, as I only use my phone 2 places (work and home). Otherwise it stays in my pocket all day long.

As long as you remember if you do a reset it will not sign you in to those two places you will have to manually do it again

I have had this issue for months or longer. Everything I have tried does not fix it. Has to be an app or something. Just hoping someday it goes away.
How often does yours do it? I can go almost two weeks sometimes.

Yeah, about a week or two. Need to let it go one time and see how much it hurts the battery. I usually catch it within a few hours. Then I reboot the phone. I use Skype for Business and it seems to me to tie to that sometimes. But it has happened and I have not opened that app.

You cant figure out of it is continuing once you reboot until you recharge to 100%, very annoying. I did just learn that you need to never let battery go to zero, that you should charge in middle of day if it goes below 40% which I never do, or not that you should but more charging is better than less, which is not the way it used to be.

Looking for things in common. Apple Watch?
No. For a while my SiriusXM app was doing it, I could delete it entirely from phone and it would stop, but that no longer works. It is the IOS system or we are all using the same apps which is nearly impossible.

I'm going to keep an eye on this more thoroughly, but I think it might just be an iOS bug with reporting. I'm fairly sure I've checked my phone in the day where it'll show maybe "1 hour usage 3 hours standby" and then later in the day the two will be the same.

There is almost no situation where they should be the same unless you have your phone functioning doing something the entire time like playing radio or podcast, otherwise there should be some difference between the two figures almost all the time.

What got me going on this was the times when I would close all the apps but it still kept doing it, otherwise closing apps usually resolves it.
