I used to use display zoom for the same reasons people have listed. Then I realized you can’t access the one handed keyboard with display zoom enabled so I stopped using it. I have to say, at first it was bothersome but, now I don’t miss it at all.

got an 8+ and the X is going back, kinda bummed maybe if they add the display zoom and score one cheaper usedI may consider it again, first world probs :)

I also have always used the Zoomed mode on iPhone 7 and previous and just for the X....

At first I was upset that this was gone..

However actually after using the X for a bit now, the screen is so sharp and crisp compared to any other phone, you really get used to it...

Also in zoom mode some apps were weird looking... even some apple built in text..

Before youy go cancelling or returning your phone try it first.... its not bad as it was..

You can still make the text big ans I keep it on largest in text settings

This is what I am doing since yesterday. After a first shock :D I'm slowly adapting to the new view without display zoom. I increased the font size a little bit, but not much. The only real issue is the home screen. But using a wallpaper with enough contrast helps. Other than that, my eyes should adapt.
Yea they really designed the X for us young guys. 55 and under. .
Talk about that..... eyesight and reading problems start at 40. I'm not 55 yet and can't live without my progressive and computer glasses, after having lived happily "glasses-free" for over 40 years.

I also miss the display zoom feature. I'm compensating by setting reading mode to be automatic for all web pages that support it, and by increasing the font size a bit. Still, I wish the keyboard was a bit bigger, because typing on the unzoomed keyboard is less accurate than it was on my 7+. I also wish there was something like reading mode for emails, because some html emails sent through Exchange are impossible to read in the mail app.

Does a zoomed display help with reachability as icons would be bigger? I do not have a Plus so looking for your feedback.

Thanks. I sent the feedback that I returned my X but would buy again if they add the Display Zoom option. I'm a bit worried though that this is a sign of things to come and that next year all the new phones will lack Display Zoom.
Well they definitely would be ignoring their fans if they do that. I had no idea how many people valued that option until I posted it.

Done. I would have bought the X today if the zoom view was offered, but will stick with my 8 for now
I have the 8 Plus and love it!
I had the X but wanted the larger screen I will return it soon if they don’t update the software :(

So while I wait for my iPhone X (it'll be 4 weeks next Friday... sigh) I've been playing a lot around with demo devices and I think I'll be OK with the iPhone X's standard view which is, according to me, better than the standard view on my 6s plus. I don't know why, but generally speaking I find the X's display more comfortable to read. Is that due to the crispiness and sharpness of the OLED screen? Anyway, let's see how this goes on a day-to-day basis.

And yes, it would be sad for Apple to forget their "elder" user base - first because we're the ones who helped them survive when the company was struggling back in the 90s. :D and second, well, people in their 40s-50s can afford the expensive stuff more easily than younger generations. :)

I’ve had mine for about 10 days and it’s not much different than my 6S in size. Screen is crisper. I can’t get over how much it's like an Android. Swiping up and no home button. Closing screens the same way. Apple said I can keep it 30 days in hopes they will update the zoom. But I’m probably going to get the 8 plus instead. So much larger readable content.

This prompted me to go back and compare the icon sizes on the X vs my old 6 in standard and zoomed mode. Yeah - they are indeed bigger on the X. According to my rough measurements moving to the X gives you about a third of the icon size increase that you'd get going from standard to zoom on a 6/7/8. So it's something.

The results with text are more uneven. Even in Apple's apps dynamic text increases seem to be applied unevenly. It doesn't help at all in many third party apps. Display Zoom worked on everything. I'm undecided right now on returning the X. I should give it more than the few hours I've had with it.

Wait 'till you're in your 60s. Is this where I insert the classic "youth is wasted on the young" quote?

Returned my iphone X this weekend for iphone 8 plus. Love the 8 plus WITH display zoom. Would have loved to keep the X but reached out to numerous people both in retail and corporate and couldn't get an answer for it being a software, hardware or development toolkit, etc. obstacle. Supposedly known for customer service but not so much on this one...oh well.

Everyone who wants zoom back should send Apple feedback. Takes a few seconds.

I had the 6s plus. I loved that phone. It was bigger and it had the zoom feature. I now have the X and I’m excited. It has the same size screen but everything is small. I need the stuff larger. It is nice to have the option. You will be catering to the younger and older generations. Please find a way to bring that feature back. Sooner rather than later.

I got my X 10 days ago. I wouldn't go back. Text is certainly a tad smaller but the screen is so comfortable in so many other ways! I enjoy the portability and the easiness-of-use of the new device, as well as all of its new features. As far as text sizes go, I can live with the way it's now. For long readings, I use my iPad or my Mac anyway. But in any case, my eyes get much less tired now than they used to, on the iPhone 6S Plus.

All in all, the iPhone X's new features and brilliant screen outweight the fact that sometimes the text is smaller than on my previous device.

After a day with the iPhone X I do NOT LIKE IT! Finally dawned on me why, have always used my iPhones with the zoom feature on! They must bring this back I think it would make me like this phone a lot more (going from a plus)
I did reach out to Apple and expressed this. I hope anyone else wanting this feature back also email them! Otherwise I absolutely love the Face ID and how the phone operates without the home button, absolutely brilliant! Just the size is throwing me off so bad going from the plus to this, I think it all comes down to I’ve always used iPhone with that feature selected, so really think this is what is throwing me off
I also have always used this feature and didn’t realize I would miss it. I like the phone but I’m Frustrated with the size of the content. I bought the x for the “bigger” screen!!! Not

Ah.. I came to this thread while Googling for help.

My new iPhone X screen has zoomed-in (accidentally - don't know how). How do I unzoom it and make the device usable again?

This thread is claiming that the iPhone X does not have a zoom feature. Well it does!! Please help...

To give you an idea of what I am seeing, when I open "Settings" the zoomed display displays "tings". It does not resize with a gesture or pan left/right. Terrible.

You are likely talking about the zoom accessibility functionality, not the zoomed view, which is different (and what is being discussed in this thread).

You can try tapping on your screen with three fingers a few times to see if that unzooms. You might want to check your accessibility settings and make sure that zoom isn't enabled there.

Another vote for bringing back display zoom, if for nothing else than the app icons.

Bigger screen compared to what?
It’s no secret that the total area of the screen is less than that of the Plus phones. It’s also no secret that the width of the screen is thinner, more in line with the width of the 7.

I've had an iPhone X for almost a month now. Really got used to the display... wouldn't go back to a Plus. Yes, the total area of the screen feels smaller, mostly because it's less wide than a Plus, but the OLED's sharpness and easier feel on the eyes really makes up to it, at least as far as I'm concerned.

I HAVE EXCELLENT NEWS FOR THE WORLD. I've been using this method for a little while and it is the closest thing to Display Zoom I think we're ever gonna get on an X. It's the accessibility ZOOM but i had no idea you can fine tune it to work ALMOST exactly like display zoom. So do this: SETTINGS-GENERAL-ACCESSIBILITY-ZOOM-Turn Zoom on (i use follow focus and i do not show controller)-ZOOM REGION-FULL SCREEN ZOOM-ZOOM FILTER NONE- MAXIMUM ZOOM LEVEL 1.2X. Now you can exit settings. Now your home screen wont really look any different but do the 3 finger tap on your home screen and zoom options pops up and there is another dial that will let you zoom the screen to what ever level you like. I make mine a little bigger than most people would like BUT i cuts off my bottom tray (see screenshot). It makes a HUGE difference and any time I another X user they loose their mind because it makes the phone look WAY BIGGER... i really had issues with it before but this fixes everything. PLEASE NOTE: it will get jacked from time to time especially if you have it zoomed as big as I do... but you can move the screen around with 3 fingers so its no biggie... SOMETIMES the top of the screen (time and battery) get cut off but you just pull down w/3 fingers and get over it. TRY IT YOU'LL LIKE IT. Let me know what you think.
