I'm not sure why they would lag unless they have a bunch of websites open or buggy apps running. I've never tested one in an Apple store, but I've owned one since launch and notice zero lag.
 
Still not smooth with 11.2 Beta 5.

Why should set as new device solve it ? Never had something like that... I can try but that’s not normal.

Seems like Apple is having a lot of software issues as of late. Hopefully they can get it fixed soon.

I'm kind of frustrated with my iPhone X at the moment.

My wife’s lagging like a *#%! My 8 is as smooth as a baby’s butt.
 
My iPhone has been absolutely fine UNITL updating to iOS 11.2, I've tried restore as new device and from iCloud - no difference. Anyone else having similar issues?

I experience lag too on my iphone x
I analysed it a bit

Youtube: swiping down a video to a smaller corner it freezes half way before going down

Instagram: slow loading of profile images and lags when you scroll down fast in the search feed

Whatsapp: jitters in conversations when you swipe up fast

Homescreen: occasional hiccup when swiping left to right

All very annoying and there should come a fix soon
 
I had small lags but now on 11.2 its shocking. lags all over the place. loathed to do a wipe but might have to.
 
I’ve been experiencing lag on my iPhone X recently. Especially when I use Instagram. Just freezes for a good few seconds and then starts responding again.
 
Just did a wipe on my X and still having lag issues. Especially low frame-rate in games. iOS 11.3 will probably fix this, bad news is we have to wait 3 months.
 
FWIW I had stellar performance from launch day and no noticeable lag even on 11.2 until this morning:
-Face ID not nearly as reliable and smooth. still usually works but i have entered code as many times this am as 11/3-12-6, I swear.
-Screen opened this morning to home screen, then went totally black for 1-2 seconds, then homescreen again.
-since then, periodic lag/freeze when scrolling or when swiping up and away on notification drops when doung something else on screen.
-and a couple of “what just happened?” moments with a drop or jitter that happened so fast I can’t describe.

I have done a hard restart as of 20 minutes ago and can’t say problems since. Transitioning to A1865 and Verizon IUP soon so new phone to come anyway.

Update: 7 pm. no lag on new A1865. On AT&T until tomorrow’s Verizon changeover.

You’re not alone. my x freezes constantly if i have pokemon go open. I had to close it to write this message otherwise it was impossible. I posted here and someone suggested oh close the background apps and it’s like...my 6 plus and 7 plus ran everything seamlessly with tons of apps open. This one can’t? That’s not even an answer. Going to restart as new I guess and hope.

Mine lagged a bit. Resetting all settings fixed 95% of my issues
