For me its much ado about nothing.

My iPad is fast enough for all of my needs, the new iPhones serve a completely different purpose, and to be honest it doesn't bother me at all that the phones are sporting a faster processor.

Yes, absolutely. Even for Affinity Photo and other GPU intensive tasks, the iPad Pro absolutely flies. Same cannot be said for my 2 year old MBP, but that's a different story. The iPad Pros are, collectively, quite beastly.

How do you guys feel about the iPhone X, 8 and 8 Plus being more powerful than the 2nd generation iPad Pro devices when a so-called PC replacement has less power than a phone that has less functionality???

Especially considering the iPad Pro was released only months before the A11 existed........

https://browser.geekbench.com/ios-benchmarks

Check out the metal benchmarks on the above link,

It shows the A9X graphic performance better than the A10.

I bet it will show similar when comparing the A10X with A11.

How do you feel about your Tab S3 being much slower than the S8 that was released a month later?

;)
That is so embarrassing for the s3.

I have no experience with the s3 but if it really is much slower than the s8 then that would infer that it is slower than the almost 3 year old iPad Air 2.

In my quick tests in cpu intensive tasks the air 2 is still faster than the s8.

Indifferent?

Regardless of the device, there will always be a faster CPU around the corner.

All I know is, my 9.7" iPad Pro blazes through tasks. And that's a generation old.

This is the same thing A10 was released. It was faster than the A9X. But the Ax and AxX are both tuned differently. I bet the A11 is faster at burst, but highly tuned for power saving. The AxX have better leeway due to larger batteries on iPad.

Not sure why people are complaining. The iPad still offer different use due to its larger canvas.
But imagine what an A11X can bring to the table.

But real question is, how do you feel when the year old iPhone 7 is still faster than your $1k Galaxy Note 8? :D

Processor power has been fast enough for the past few years on any high-end flagship device. You should care that you can't utilize any of that power while I clearly can with my Note 8. Enjoy your notch.....and the limited iOS. Thanks Pikachu 2002......

You will say the same thing next year.

Ah, the real color appears. Troll.

Move on people, clearly this is just a troll thread.

Well the Geekbench scores are higher for the new iPhones than my iPad pro. Pretty disappointing.

Don't forget the A11 has the new neural engine for AR. Something the iPad Pro doesn't have.

This is always the case, right?

Or has been for some time

iPads feature a beefed up variant of the A-series from the latest iPhone at the time, then a new iPhone comes out, then updated iPads with a beef up variant, rinse, repeat

Its fine by me

Current iPads still have a RAM leg up on iPhones.

2GB for 8, 3GB for 8+ and X.

4GB standard for 10.5 and 12.9 gen 2 iPad Pros

Plus where’s ProMotion on these new iPhones? :p

I don't know while anyone would care if you don't use the iphone for the big screen and the amazing stylus,
and all the things people use by ipads pro for instead of iphone's.
The newest Z workstation kills mac pro, but if you buy a machine like that for Mac Os final cut and logic ...
you wouldn't throw a fit the Z benchmarks faster on a multcore benchmark or something ... It doesn't run final cut and logic.

Dissaster if your hobby is running a benchmark app.
A benchmark can be interesting to see if an update from a macbook pro from 2012 to a macbook pro 2017 is worth it.
Better some program specific benchmark, in the programs you use.

Even then other things can put you off. Imacs running to hot for your type of work.
A faster phone, but you don't like there is a black blop in the screen that makes your current phone looks more elegant ...

Personally I would be more interested in some Note functions, that give it all that laptop/desktop use ...
when you have a phone that has more power than all your office apps need,
but can't use some keyboard, dock/screen, filing system and throw files around to other devices ... no extra app.
Android has more of those functions but is more annoying, can act up weird.
iOS you really have to use it as Apple intends, but does work flawless in that way
( I asume, I don't have iOS devices, I don't hear much complaints about them, I only do from multiplatform users,
I use android and some core apps, I don't really like it, as a phone I would rather use my Nokia E75 haha,
I love those buttons and keyboard but in a lot of modern teambased workflows not having some apps holds you to much back ) ...

The iPad Pro might not have an A11, but luckily it also has no notch.

Unfortunately the notch is the future for iPad. Despite how awful it looks on the X people will still buy like hot cakes and it will be a success for apple.

Honestly, what app in the App store maxes out the iPad Pro?

The iPad Pro will be overkill for many years.

I agree with your point mainly, but I play a soccer/football management sim known as Football Manager, when I loaded the same file on both the Air 2 and Pro 10.5, the 10.5 had loaded the save file (which gets more cumbersome with the addition of more leagues, clubs and players in each save file). It's a very taxing game but not graphics heavy. That could easily max out the iPad Pro

I don't get why anyone who buys a piece of technology should be surprised when something new comes out and surpasses it some months later. And it's not like it somehow makes your current device less powerful. If it was good enough for you last week it's still good enough today. What's to be upset about?

OP is a troll and just trying to stir up ****. Most people do not care. I always thought it was odd that people who DON'T own a product seem to be the ones concerned the most about it :)

I agree with your post but it is kind of shady on apples part to release the new ipads without the A11. Its not like the iPad development team didn't know about the A11 coming out soon. With Apple pushing this augmented reality (AR) as the next big thing, there is really no reason they couldn't have waited to release the new Pros to include this new neural engine other than to use it as a selling point for next years Pro models.

Not shady at all. A10X has a faster GPU to drive the 120hz higher res display and also for faster Metal performance. I would still rather have the A10X than a11 for the iPad Pro.

Yet to be seen but ok. Let's see what this neural engine that the A11 has brings to the table.

And they couldn't design an A11x to be released in November?

I don't think Apple can design and manufacture a new CPU in just a few months.

The A11X will be ready somewhere at the end of next year.

The A10X is fine. It's GPU is even more powerful than the GPU on the 13" 2017 Macbook Pro, which is why the iPad Pro can do Pro Motion and the iPhone X cannot.

I assume the OP had one intention starting this thread. The irony is hardly anyone cares as the new iPad Pro models are insanely fast. Faster than any of the Samsung devices in his signature. Furthermore, I believe we are entering into an area of diminishing returns. I believe there's a thread in one of the boards on this site about diminishing returns. For the tasks and apps made for iOS devices now and in the immediate future, the iPad Pro models have more performance than necessary.
