For me XR is completely useless at its current form even though it is "tech" better than X. But its only my point of view as I have different needs than the XR fans.
I really don't care about the XR upgrades at this point when I cannot use the phone one handed and even hold it comortably with one hand, moreover I cannot imagine carrying XR in my pocket and for me - even the X/XS size is already on the very thin edge of doing so and I wish my X was a bit smaller (yes - I would gladly switch it to its 4.7 version - maybe next year when they will introduce something like that).
I can type all the text on X one handed (no problem at all) and use it constantly only with one hand no matter what app I use (impossible for me with XR unless I wanted to get my wrist broken after a while) - I use two hands mostly with X when shooting photos to hold the phone steady.
I was 100% sure I would buy XR when I checked the tech specs but it all changed when I got one into my hand.
I see XR as incomplete product - Im pretty sure the second gen of XR will be the much more expected and better phone.
Excuse my sarcasm but today I imagine Apple wise guys sitting around the table saying - hey folks, we have this premiere this year and as its only one year from our last "revolution" - we came up with A12 and better camera on XS and some more memory, the Face ID ver 2 works a bit faster as Mr John removed few lines of code that was not needed, hmmm what else do we get to survive the next year with stock holders? Ok, obviously the XS probably wont sell as expected because the X users will not switch as the upgrades are not worthy the new price (so it would be better to remove X from sales), hmmm so, then we need to raise the sales hits on something else and bit different - lets get A12, XS cut camera, put some more memory option (128 GB is great sales catcher), we cannot use OLED obviously so we put LCD for the one last time but lets make it huge so we finally get the space for the right battery and work time and along the way lets just skip the whole ergonomy thing (and Jobs rolled over twice at this point, Im pretty sure

).
Still - I will be waiting for smaller "XS" tech sized phone that would fill the 8/SE size gap market as it would be the perfect product for me, meanwhile the X does its job and I truly believe that the phones should be introduced once in 3-4 years (not yearly) to cut this "marketing" moves and so focus on real usefull progress and upgrades.
