Haha, no. I am sure Apple is very happy with their iPhone sales this year.

35 MILLION units sold means $43 BILLION in revenue and Apple is going to have to have deep price cuts on the iPhone X? People don't realize that it's all about revenue, not units sold. $43 BILLION in revenue is the equivalent of what Amazon did in the 12 week 4th quarter last year on millions of products sold to millions of customers. And somehow Apple will be suffering because 1 item performed at the same level in only 7 weeks?

LOL. I mean, seriously. Laugh. Out. Loud.

I can see them raising prices, actually. Once you cross the $1,000 threshold, another $50 or $100 is inconsequential.

Do you see pigs in the sky? No.

If I recall, the only time Apple dropped a price shortly after release was the original iPhone. I'm not aware of it happening since.

Timmy is all about numbers I would not be shock with a price drop now that the numbers are lower then expect. Now with apple slowing down older phones its a great time to go in with the kill.

For those people stating Apple won't reduce the price, you are all forgetting the price drop of the original iPhone. That went from $599 and $699 down to $399 and $499.

You consider that the same situation? That was a brand new product category. I think the iPhone is a bit more established now, could be me though.

It wasn't about product placement when they dropped the price. It was about that people were outraged that the product costed $699 for an 8GB model and there were no sort of subsidy even though people were forced to sign 2-year contracts for a $59.99 service (without taking into account Text).

I don't see much outrage here though just an annoyance of having to pay $130 more than last year.

I'm love Apple products, but I'm so glad sales have slumped a little to show Apple there is a threshold on what people will spend. The pricing of the X is way too expensive. Hopefully, next year, Apple readjusts its pricing. I can accept when they priced the base iPhone at $749.

I had the X for 2 weeks and during that time, even though, I felt the X was aesthetically nice, it wasn't worth $1149.

Yes so on a non existent market prior to the release of the iPhone, they were testing the waters. Realized the price was too high and dropped it. They sold an iPhone 7 Plus last year that costs $969, no price drop. Why would you expect that for a $999 iPhone X?

Yes they were. Just like they are now. The X is a new product in a segment of its own. Even tho it's an iPhone.

The X's price drop will be announced during the keynote for its successor in the fall, and not a moment sooner.

Sure, but in recent years? That was X, I mean ten ;) , years ago.

Haha alright. You let me know when that price drop hits.

I’m not saying it will definetly happen. I’m saying it is a possibility. We have precedent. Although, it’s not a strong possibility, nor do we have rumors stating it. Like I said, there is a possibility, not a confirmed fact.

Just thinking out loud, not arguing, because none of us knows...if they drop the price of the X during its first year, would people who pair original/full price be smoked? I think I would. ???

But that's an outdated example that you're providing. Apple has drastically changed much since then and there's nothing indicating that the iPhone X will be reduced unless it's through a carrier through a promotion for example. Apple themselves is almost guaranteed to not reduce the price of the iPhone X until the announcement of the September 2018 iPhones.

They aren't but it's their own fault. If their products wouldn't be so expensive I think they would sell more than ever before because it would be affordable to more people.

Yup, a record quarter is just terrible. They need to go back to the drawing board.
Can't wait to see the second quarter results. I think people will hold their devices for a longer period of time and at some point this milking process will slow down. It's just a matter of time, just like the financial crisis that began in 2008, the bubble will burst open.
