This was discussed here ad nauseam, in short what you consider better is highly subjective and I, personally, consider garish and oversaturated. I prefer the X and iPhone LCD look to Samsung OLEDs that are kitsch in my opinion. So, no, I don’t think it is better and Apple will not move to more saturated screens this year.

If you prefer this type of look. For me and my taste, iPhone X, and even iPhone 8, have better screens. It’s just how it is.

Also, they have objectively higher sustained brightness, better pentile arrangements, more natural colors and are more resistant to burn in. Maybe Samsung catches up with S9?
[doublepost=1516580834][/doublepost]

No, completely different design and specs. Samsung just produced it in their factories, just like they produced certain A9 chips. It’s Apple’s design.

I honestly want to agree with you, because it would mean my eyes see what you are trying to explain, I just can't see it, nor do I read it in most articles explaining that the iphone X is a better screen, when compared.

Like you say, personal preference and we can leave it with that.

It doesn't Matter what somebody says is the best display, all matters is what somebody prefers in the end. Both are great displays, but it doesn't really matter what display is best if you only choose to use one phone specifically that you like, which could be Samsung or Apple.

The Samsung’s have more vivid colors. The iPhone looks more natural. I like to watch content like it was meant to be. Not fake saturated.
For the same reason I do not like beats products because the sounds is just not like it was meant to be, despite what Dre says.

I found beats to be quite balanced. If you are listening to music with a lot of bass then it should be crashing into and you should be able to feel it in your chest. That's something I miss with the Bose QC35's.

Beats are everything but balanced. They add artificial bass. Good headphones make you hear the music as the artists intended to. Beats give fake sound. Just like Samsung gives a fake image. But hey, some people like that. Like I said, I like to hear and see my content like it was meant to be.

As someone who uses an X and a note 8 daily, I personally prefer the higher resolution / larger screen for media consumption.

The X is still the best iPhone screen I’ve ever used (HATE LCD).

Everyone likes what they like, I prefer higher resolution some people prefer more basic / normal looking color bases.

Beats are awful. Everything sounds distorted and muffled. I say this as someone who is not an audiophile.

I've owned both a Note 8 and an iPhone X.

I appreciate the accuracy of the iPhone X colors and it's a joy to use the screen--but I must say I prefer the Note 8 screen. Not only do the colors pop (which I know is inaccurate, but my online world doesn't need to be true to life) but there is no notch to throw off how wide screen content displays.

That being said, the Note 8 feels like a flat screen TV in my pocket and the awkward fingerprint scanner is frustrating. Also, my old iTunes music with DRM is an issue on Android. Android in general seems to be pushing more aggressively toward music subscriptions and it's not as easy to get your music purchases organized locally on your device. Anyway, I digress.

Once Samsung gets that fingerprint sensor under the display--migrates to 4K (for VR) then I might just go out and have two phones.

I completely disagree.

I own the Samsung s8 plus and the note 8 and the iphone X, the note 8 and s8 are much better screens, and that's not my personal preference, because I like my iphone x the most of the three.

photo quality on screen? Iphone x
Watching movies, samsung hands down
watching netflix, samsung.

I know those are just a few examples, but I'd be wrong to say the iphone x has a better screen than the samsung.

We can debate what phone is "better" but Id have a hard time trying to debate why I think a screen (iphone) with so much lag can be the best phone

Just because you own both phones doesn’t make your liking of the Note display over the X display any less of a preference.

Agreed. If a Note fills your needs, then that's device. Between competitors it comes down to needs and how it fits in your life.

A friend of mine and I compared our phones yesterday evening, using the same Youtube video.
He owns an S8 and I have an X. His screen is way brighter than mine, and the colours just pop a lot more.
I do not care much for the oversaturated colours, but the difference in brightness left me very disappointed in the iPhone.

You can easily play around with color settings (under Settings>General>Accessibility>Display Accommodations>Color Filters) and increase contrast and brightness to 100% and it will look almost exactly as that Samsung's display. However, colors won't be accurate/natural, and the battery will run out much faster.

I don't see the option to increase contrast in that menu, just some pre-set profiles that dont really change much. Am I missing something?

Just because you took my post and used a few words that everyone else has said, still makes it your preference.
That was a pretty weak reply from me right? Yah, just think how valuable yours was.

I still hold to what I said from the start, I wasn't coming in here and saying "checkout this link, it shows the Note 8 is so much better than the iphone X" or "www. shows the Note 8 score 90% and the iphone was 78%"

The thread is Note 8 vx iphone X and all I did was express I own both and when it comes to watching movies or you tube videos, the iPhone X isn't even worthy of turning on, if you have a Note 8.
I strictly said, I wasn't stating benchmarks, brightness etc. I was using day to day examples.
I'm not saying the iPhone is garbage.

The Note 8 vs the iPhone X isn't even comparable, due to how much bigger the screen is on the Note 8, and so really, this thread is handicapped to start. BUT, if the posters who posted before my post sat here and tried to explain why the iPhone X has a better screen, why would I sit here and not try and explain why the note 8 is worthy as a better screen.

I didn't make the thread I just replied.
Samsung S8 vs Iphone X for "which screen is better" would be a better argument would it not?

Color saturation is a very personal preference. I personal prefer the vibrant colors on Samsung phones. And the level of saturation can be adjusted.

The OLED on the iPhone X looks no different than the LCD display on the iPhone 8. The same whitewashed display.

But again, it comes down to personal preference.

I wasn't discrediting your experience. I was pointing out that which screen someone likes is still a preference.

I agree with this, I was very much looking forward to finally having an OLED display but was quite dissapointed to find that the X display looks just like the LCD display I had been using on my 7 plus, just a little brighter. I get that Apple wanted to go for realistic and true color display, but they could have made it pop a little to distinguish it.

Which ones do you have? The good ones are the studios and pros. All the others are exactly how you described.

I owned the studios and now have the Bose QC35's. I miss having actual bass but man nothing beats the noise canceling on the bose.

I have the beats solos. I also had the ur beats but returned them with my 14 day period.

Best headphones I’ve ever owned is Sennheiser.

Something I'm curious about, is its rumored that LG will be producing the 6.5 iPhone X display and Samsung will manufacture the 5.8 iPhone X display for the 2018 iPhones, and I plan on upgrading to the 6.5 iPhone. I look forward to seeing the differences between both displays with colors, brightness from both manufacturers.

It's under Settings>General>Accessibility>Increase Contrast
Mind you, it's not a contrast slider, just an option to darken colors . It does increase the contrast, though.
