You can't buy the Xr right now anyway, why not just wait and see the reviews, rather than asking in advance where NO ONE has ever held the phone? (besides at the Apple Event but people couldn't get that much information then)

As it’s now less then a month away I would wait to see what the XR is like, the 8 Plus isn’t going anywhere and will still be on sale if you still prefer it :)
But it is growing older.

Tomorrow, I will visit a shop to see if there are any demos of XS max. Just for curiosity... I think it is hugeee

And has a better PPI than an iPad Pro. How many people complain about the PPI of the Pro?
I feel like people aren’t holding the iPad Pro as close to their face as they would an iPhone.

My biggest gripe is the PPI on the Plus is better than the XR. I wish the PPI was the same as the Plus.

Doesn't the Xr come with 3GB instead of 4GB?
You're correct, my bad mistyping it.

Get some sense.
XR still has a 326 ppi lcd display compared to Max’s 458 ppi OLED. Which to me is a huge letdown. XR display is no better than iPhone 8 display which is already outdated.
Get some sense, who's talking about the Max when the OP already stated that the option between 8 Plus and XR.

Would that PPI matter? Seriously, why is 400ppi is "better" than 300ppi when your eyes cannot even differentiate the pixels anymore on normal viewing? The XR has the same PPI as the standard iPhone 6 to 8, and nobody complained bout the PPI on those phones.

My wife iPhone 7 Plus 128gb got the dreaded Speaker gray out where the microphone died or became disabled. Apple was fixing this for months April 2018-July 2018 for free out of warranty but they stopped.

I’m just gonna to trade it in for $285 Apple credit and buy her the iPhone 8 Plus. I had it and resold it for around $500 one week ago (my luck since she said she didn’t want it so I sold it 9 days ago )

She doesn’t want iPhone Xs max. She doesn’t want iPhone XR cause she would lose the Home button. I got a great deal from friend on iPhone X with Apple care 256gb for $600 but she doesn’t want the iPhone X either due to no touch ID.

So I’m just gonna to get her the 64gb iPhone 8 Plus i just resold. For $699 minus $285 Apple trade In for her defective iPhone 7 Plus. Apple will just turn it on and see no crack and it works. They won’t test the microphone.

So $415 out of pocket.

Better than me paying $349 for iPhone 7 Plus replacement out of warranty.

This. I can’t imagine Apple putting out a new phone that is noticeably inferior in day to day usage. PPI is definitely not the only spec that matters for a display that looks good and is accurate. Many android phones over the years had these flaws despite having great specs on paper.

"I can’t imagine Apple putting out a new phone that is noticeably inferior in day to day usage." Think again and focus on the word "noticeably". Of course if you are used to a 326 ppi, you are not going to notice. But once you become conditioned to the sharper text at 401 ppi, there is no going back. Ask yourself why Apple went w/a higher PPI on the Plus phones. For no reason? Because it had had a larger form factor - 5' 5"? Well, the 6.1" XR has an even larger form factor? No, it was to offer a superior product. Now it seems, Apple is saying it never mattered all in the first place - 326 is good enough and the XR is "likable enough". Oh, well.

Now that I’ve owned the XR for nearly a week I can say I personally don’t notice coming from a Plus. I definitely compared with my plus side by side as I was willing to swap to the XS if it didn’t hold up. But now I am pretty sure I’m sticking with the XR. That being said I could definitely spot the difference if I were using the devices very close to my eyes (~5”). This is something I noticed the few times I didn’t have my contacts or glasses on and used my phone and notice the sharpness (lesser) with text. But as for day to day usage with my normal viewing distances it’s not noticeable. The XR screen is noticeably brighter so that is an advantage. The absolute viewing angles are slightly less but nothing that has been noticeable, even laying on my desk. I’m sure there are going to be people that won’t find it up to par from a Plus but I believe the majority will be perfectly happy with it. I am one of them. The specs don’t lie but ultimately I left it up to my own eyes and they picked the XR.
