I think if you go from the 8 Plus down to the X you will be disappointed honestly… I now I was, and from day 2, have been waiting for the MAX - X was too small for me and for work for sure! MAX and never every look back!!!

I can tell you the 8+ is too big for the X Max case

There’s my x case next to the max

No it’s slightly smaller
looking at the new max cases I got today versus my 8 plus, about the exact same size, max maybe tad longer

the actual physical size doesn’t concern me however, the screen going to the edge might be too hard to reach
lol.. serious? either you want big or you don't... lol..

I just got one of the leather Apple cases in (returning the case, don’t like the color) but holy hell is this phone huge! I am definitely a bit nervous about the size of this phone.
Awesome, I was skeptical of it being small and not a huge difference from the 5.8”. :D

Are you experiencing difficult reaching stuff now? Thenside to side bezels barely changed. Top and. Have bottom are the differentiating factors.

I noticed google chrome changed most of the controls to the bottom of the screen I am assuming to adapt to this.

I currently have an 8 Plus and want to upgrade to either the XS or XS Max. I can use my 8 plus in one hand but it concerns me that the screen goes all the way to the edge. I just don't know if I can reach that far all the time. I love having the wider screen but I am starting to get a little tired of the big phone. I have been dropping it a lot lately, in fact I broke my screen protector yesterday. If anyone went to the 5.8" X from a Plus phone let me know your thoughts on it. I can type no problem on a X by the way. I'm definitely leaning towards the 5.8"
Man up!

I went from a plus to the X and honestly hates most is it just missed that screen real estate at the end of the day because as I get older I need to see clearly. That was the other issue w the x was it was hard to see the text clearly. Was fine but had to squint. Not like the plus or my soon to be max !!!!!!

the X/XS is just a little skinnier than the 8 Plus. But *just* enough to be extremely noticeable to the user. Typing on the 8 Plus, then going to the X keyboard... It's like going back to an iPhone 3g. I just couldn't do it, had to go Max.

Been using Plus phones since 6 Plus was released and they fit in my pocket just fine and I honestly have no issues with using it one handed. I am use to it and I refuse to give up screen space and battery life to be able to use it one handed in a more comfortable fashion. Also.. it doesn't look ridiculous talking on a plus size phone to most people. 90%. of the time when I am on my phone it's on speaker.

My concern is pocketability more so than anything else.

My X fits my pockets but is still a pain when tying shoes or driving leading me to take it out and put it somewhere.

Do people find this a lot worse with plus sized models, do you all have bigger pockets, or are you using bags etc?

I don’t think I have super skinny jeans etc but think this is the only thing making me hesitate over the max.

I have learned to kind of move my phone over in my pocket when I need to bend over and tie my shoes or something. Just part of life with a “big” phone.

I’ve just received a Spigen thin case to house the Max arriving tomorrow, bit concerned about usability with reaching the top of the display to pull down.

Going to securely tape my current X into the spigen case with the top of the screen at the top of the case and try using it for a day.

Think this phone will be too big for people who don’t have larger hands and want the same level of use with one hand as they get from the X.

It allows you to be out of office longer and not attached, the X was WAY to small to do any meaningful work honestly… reading, emails, web etc. closer to the Note the better for me!! Bigger is better!

This is my main complaint with a 5.8 X, it was way too small for what I was expecting. It’s a great phone, but I really do appreciate the larger real estate with the 6.5 display will offer. Even though I don’t prefer for carrying around a large smart phone, the trade-off is worth it.

6.5mm is the difference between the width of the XS and the XS Max.
13.9mm height difference.

1/4” by 1/2”

If thats too big for your pocket.. i guess stick with the XS.

After the 6s PLus and the 7 Plus I decided to skip the Max and get the XS. The kicker for me was that my iPhone X fit in my pocket so much better than my 7 Plus due to the shorter length. I like the big screen on the XS Max but I’m just so tired of pain when I sit down with a Plus sized iPhone in my pocket hitting my hip bone.

I like being able to leave my XS in my pocket when I’m sitting at a table for a meeting or a dinner date. I used to always have to pull my 7 Plus out.

I also exchanged my XS Max for the plains XS.

The Max’s chassis is ever so slightly smaller theman the 6/6S/7/8 Plus, but it has an edge to edge display which is just too big to use comfortably one-handed. The XS already has a bigger display than the Plus. In addition, the jump in effective resolution from a XS to a XS Max is not as big as going from a 6/6S/7/8 to a Plus. With the older phones you were going from a resolution of 750x1334 display to 1080x1920 whereas the XS vs Max is 1125x2436 vs 1242x2688.

Think of the XS as a Plus with the bezels removed and the Max as a Plus with the bezels turned into extra display.

I had a 6S Plus before my X and now XS Max. For some reason even though it’s almost exactly the same size as the 6S plus it seems a little big. I love it though and found the X too small. I think the XR will be the Perfect size.
