It looks like it was only intended to recharge your iPod, not be plugged in while you're listening to it.

Well, since its made for the iPod video, it probably is made to be used while listening, since the video's headphone port is on the top.

i like the idea and price but it looks like it'll be impossible to have your earphones plugged in when the Touch is connected to the external battery. know what i mean?

i mean, the Touch connects at the bottom and the earphones plug into the bottom also so i don't see how you can connect the external battery and still use it to watch a movie.

thanks and i hope i'm wrong!

(go to this page http://www.keenzo.com/showproduct.asp?ID=1000770 and click on the Zoom link and you'll see a larger version of the product. the ipod video had the earphone jack at the top, unlike the Touch; take a look at this picture: http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/9/98/IPod_video_30_GB_white_2.jpg )

like i said, i hope i'm wrong but i don't wanna be stuck with something i can't use....

I found this external battery for the iPod Video on Duracell Direct, and it just so happens that it works amazingly well with the iPod Touch!

It is rechargeable, wraps around the back of your Touch, and is all black.

Oh, one more thing- It's only $15

What do you think?

Black and Decker sells a power brick for $20 that does the same thing, but you can use your headphones at the same time. I bought mine at Waters True Value and use it alot. Use a plug-in wall charger or the usb charging slot on it (tho the usb doesn't work for charging my Touch, but DOES work for charging my cell phone).

Wow, talk about unearthing an old thread! Jeez! Well, I guess I'm glad you guys did, because I need to warn everyone to NOT BUY THIS. It stopped working after two months! VERY disappointing...

Again, I'm telling everyone-

THIS PRODUCT IS FAULTY AND DOES NOT WORK PROPERLY.

That is all.

wow, sorry to hear about that; maybe that's the reason they were trying to unload their supply of the product at such a big discount. talk about ripping people off!

have you found something else?

*********************************

been searching a bit on the web; these three might be of interest to someone.

1. TuneJuice 2 ($30)
http://www.griffintechnology.com/products/tunejuice2

2. Black & Decker 20 Watt Power To Go Cordless AC/USB Power Supply ($30)
http://www.amazon.com/Black-Decker-Cordless-Supply-CPI20XB/dp/B000SZVMPO/ref=pd_sim_hi_2

the price is good but i wish they'd tell us what the weight and dimensions are. i'm thinking about taking this on a plane for those boring, long flights but i won't buy it if it's a large brick!

2. myPower for iPod ($53)
http://www.tekkeon.com/productcart/pc/viewPrd.asp?idcategory=0&idproduct=11#details

anyone got some other possibilities?

Yes, yes I have. It doubles the battery life, has battery life indicators, and is a lot smaller and about as thin as the iPod Touch, but still covers up the headphone jack, and happens to cost a lot more money. [link]

thanks for the info.

man, i'm bummed. i've spent hours searching but i haven't found a single product that really shines. the ones i've come across are okay but there's always some issue.

sigh... i guess i'll keep looking...

Anyone actually using one of these?

I just purchased it and am now having second thoughts. I'm new to iTouch and don't wish to 'fry' my new machine!! Anyone out there actually using one of these and can confirm that it works successfully without damaging the iTouch?

One of what? The Duracell battery that I explicitly said DOES NOT WORK?

Guess I missed it somewhere...

That it DOES NOT WORK, that is. If you mean that you cannot use the iTouch when being recharged with this battery, well, I can live with that. But if it damages the iTouch then that's another kettle of fish altogether!

Beth

Ok, it took me a long time, I'll admit, however, I have the pictures now, so do your best to see if it will work for you.

It charges using the same cord as the iPod, you can charge both it and your Touch at the same time by attaching the cord that came with the touch. It doubles the battery life, and really doesn't add that much bulk. ;)

That coin beside it in the third pic is a nickel.

If you are telling us that this ISN'T a good purchase, why are you posting these photos? I realize someone wanted to see it, but shouldn't you say again that you don't recommend it?

Please, for god's sake, learn to read. Timeline=

JANUARY
1. I bought it.

FEBRUARY
2. I posted photos of it.

MARCH
3. It broke.

JULY
4. This old thread was unearthed so I told everyone it broke and was bad.

Can't break it down any simpler than that.

If you still don't understand I don't think that there is any hope that you ever will.

Thank you!

I know. It IS very frustrating dealing with such dense, stupid people. Should I slink away and hide? (Your words make one FEEL that is what one should do.) I am new to this board and I guess I didn't read carefully enough. Your words wills surely FIX that shortcoming. Thank you for being so patient and helpful!!

I will try to lay low and not participate so that I can avoid your ire! :-(

I have been using this for 7 months:

Worked great on a plane to San Juan. Watched two movies and it recharged the Touch at the same time. I highly recommend it. Oh yeah, the cable also comes in black now.

Just noticed. It went up in price. I paid $60 for it.

Hey, if you had just been mistaken, I would have just corrected you, I'm sorry.

Update

The charger I posted doesn't work with the new iPod Touch either. After one minute of charging, it turns off.

However, when it is connected, it now shows this screen in the music app:

Well... it could have been cool, but since it's just spam or some sort of thing, it's just stupid if you buy it.

Are there currently any external battery packs that will not block the touch's headphone port?

Ipod touch AC Adaptor anyone?

While we're on chargers, what do you thing of the the 5 usb AC charger?- on shop.brando.com
AC to 5-USB Power Adaptor (2000mA)
Product Code: SACAD001000

Is this confused safe for ipod touch 2nd gen 8g
Thanks.
I apologize in advance if I am a bit off topic, but I thought AC would be of interest as well in extending working of ipod.

I bought one over a year ago and could never get it charged enough to work. Maybe mine was defective from the get-go....not sure. The indicator light on the side never lighted up.
