I've just PMed Craig in the past week or two. He was super busy finishing up finals for school. He mentioned he's starting to work on a new beta and should have a new one out this summer.

Hey guys!

Glad to hear you're all still excited about the app. I just began work on it as close to full-time as I can last week, and things are really moving along. As Brian said, I've been really busy with school for the past couple months, but it's now officially summer, and that means development time. :D

I'm developing for the new 3.0 beta, which has a *ton* of great new features that will make the app even cooler. A few of the things that will be in the next version (2.0! woo hoo!) are:

- Synchronization
- Repeating Tasks
- Backups of your Tasks (So you can revert to an older one if a crash occurs)
- A loooong list of bug fixes/minor improvements

As for beta testing, I'm not sure how it all works, since 3.0 is still in private beta, and most of the beta testers do not have access to it. I guess I'll just give it out for a few weeks of testing when 3.0 is released, just to work out any of the last-minute issues.

I'm looking to revamp the appearance/theme of the home screen, if anyone has any mockups or suggestions they'd like to provide, I would really appreciate them! See you guys in June! :D

Wow! It's great to hear from you. I've been trying a few different apps similar to iProcrastinate, but none of them have just what I want. So, I'm glad to hear your back to developing. I look forward to continuing to beta test for you.

Hope you're all enjoying summer, if it's summer where you are. :D

I've been spending a lot of time bullet-proofing the synchronization, just thought I'd throw up a teaser video of where it's at. Most of the code so far has been the behind-the-scenes type stuff, so the GUI and polish haven't taken place yet. The video shows the simulator, but my iPhone was the receiving end, and had the two added subjects. It runs over the wireless network, and the synchronization engine is heavily-wrapped in unit tests so that you guys don't have to test the basics.

If you guys have any suggestions or improvements, I'd love to hear them. I can't wait until Apple releases 3.0, I've got the provisioning profile ready to go. ;)

Actually, Craig, you don't have to wait til 3.0 releases. I mean, you could always select a few people to add to your developer account as beta testers so they could get 3.0 beta now and begin testing. Just saying is all :D.

Someone else had mentioned that I could add beta developers, who could then download 3.0 and beta test before it was publicly released, I'll look into it.

Edit: I haven't been able to find any documentation on how to do this. Do you have any links?

I'm still not convinced that this is the way it works. The 3.0 software is available to iPhone developers who are paid members. If Apple wanted beta testers to have the new OS, I'd think they would make it available to them. It sounds like at this point I would have to download the OS, compress it, and email it out to everyone. And even then, every week or so with a new release, I would have to do it again.

I have a personal account (as opposed to a business account), so I cannot add team members to my account. I can add registered UUID's, but that is only to a provisioning profile, and only decides whether an app can be installed on a device or not, it has nothing to do with the firmware/OS. I think we might want to wait until the public release in a couple weeks.

If you are still interested or looking into the 3.0 beta testing option, these threads explain how it works:

The only issue I would see with this is how to download the beta. If you (Craig/Littleodie914) decided you wanted to do this, you could upload the .ipsw file to my iDisk, and testers could download it from there. There would certainly be other ways too.

I love iProcrastinate. I use it all the time and I would be willing to participate in a beta version for feedback and bug reports. :D

Glad to hear that a new version is coming. :)

But with that said, if Craig could pull of some serious features with 3.0 (PUSH NOTIFICATIONS PLEASE!!!), all would be forgotten and he would blow the competition out of the water.

That sounds good, but I still want to double check that this is Apple-sanctioned. I'd hate to have any trouble because I distributed the beta version for public download. :p

Apple ended up making push notifications much more complicated than they needed to be. Unless they change the way they work (which I hear they might be doing?) then it would be enormously overkill for something as simple as an alarm or a badge update. The push notifications, as presently implemented, are heavily geared toward server-client applications, especially ones with internet interaction.

Craig still hasn't updated my new ID number. It's been a couple of months.

The provisioning profiles are ready, but there's no sense in sending them out unless you have the application and the OS. :)

Also, when you guys get the iPhone version, I'll also give you the beta of iProcrastinate for the Mac, so you can test synchronization between the two platforms. Seems to be working great in my tests so far. :D Can't wait to have all your help!

I love iProcrastinate, keeps me alive during the school year. I'd love to be a tester, but I have no clue where that forum is. Is there an url??

*saw the post right above mine... thanks, craig!
*read the post above mine (boy am I observant today!) and I'm not a dev, so it would be a little bit impossible to beta test... don't mind me, you guys.

love your work, Craig. Now that 3.0 is out, do you still want beta testers? I am more than willing to help out (and get my hands on some of that desktop-iphone syncing) but, well, if the app's already under review (or will be within the next couple weeks) there isn't much of a point. When do you plan on submitting the update?

Beta testing is just beginning. I haven't heard back from any of the pre-beta testers whether or not the provisioning profile/app installed properly or not. If you send me your UDID I'll add it to the list and email you when the full testing opens. (Within a week or so.) :)
