Depends on the user and what they want to do with it. I need a minimum of 128GB on mine and 256GB is my sweet spot.

YMMV, but 64GB is more than enough for me on both my iPhone and iPad. I have 30GB's left on both my iDevices. I do use iCloud a lot too to store images and documents.

I have 64gb. If you have a high gb iPhone I think a 64 gb would work. I use the iPhone for Netflix downloads at the gym, iTunes, and pics (vacation pics through the years). I have about 90+gen on the iPhone.

The iPad is strictly a streaming and storing PDFs, and writing which do not take much space. I have one game on it (Pubg).

Do you plan to truly game with the iPad?

It’s mainly connected to my home WiFi so for pics, it’s connected to google photos. For media, YouTube and Netflix and sling are all streaming. If your use case matches mine I think 64 go will work. At this time I have 17gb used out of the 64.

In as much as I can live with a 64GB storage iPhone , I always opt for a higher storage on the iPad for my download contents i.e minimum of 128GB. Thanks to :apple: we may never get that back hence the 256GB.

It depends what you’re doing with it. If you mainly do a lot of online video/music streaming, web browsing, reading, and have a good amount of apps, 64GB should be plenty. If you’re doing a lot of gaming, picture taking, video taking, using a lot of pro apps, larger would be better. However, there are still workarounds to save space by using the cloud, external storage, etc. if you still don’t want to pay more money for extra storage.

Get icloud and you may be able to get by with 64 gb.. if you don't use it that much.

Personally I cannot go below 128 gb... that'd be my minimum

Does anyone have a 64 GB iPad and thinks it's enough? For me, I was thinking of using iPad as an ebook reader storing PDFs? Am I crazy in thinking 64 GB is enough or am I just fooling myself?
I had a subscription with Scientific American magazine. The entire archive, going back from its first issue in 1845 to the present is 100 GB. That is 100 GB just for the Scientific American. This is why I bought 500 GB version to store all I need in one device.

64 gb is fine. 32 gb was fine. Only if your playing a lot of heavy games or doing video editing that you
should be concerned with space

64GB in today's time is way way too less. Even an average conscious user will fill up that much space very easily. Certainly not enough !

Certainly not accurate as has been discussed above. In times of Cloud storage solutions local storage is way less important for many people.

Some people may desire more due to specific reasons but especially with the intended use case 64 GB is clearly enough.

I wonder just why Apple does not include the Micro Memory slot in their iPads like about all other tablet Mfg.s have, could it be because of the really high profits they get making people by larger sizes of memory?

Is that a rhetorical question? ;)

It maybe clearly enough for you !! not for majority of them. SO why not keep your opinion to yourself ??

Looking forward, I expect iOS 13 to finally come with a proper file system to use the Ipad more like a laptop. At that point, 64GB won't be enough.

The OP has stated the intended use case. EBooks and most PDFs don’t consume much Space. Anybody who has them at home can easily check how much space they require. Most ereaders have significantly less space compared to an iPad and people still manage huge libraries. So a 64 GB iPad will have tons of space available for the occasional art app.

And even then and if more cloud storage cannot help the user there is always the option to upgrade to a more expensive device further down the road. Used entry level iPads that I come across on the Canadian market retain a lot of their value.

Prepare to be disappointed. We all know Apple has a reputation of doing so with iOS. I don’t expect many changes to iOS 13, but still may include nice features for iPad, but not many.

Apple may not want to make the iPad compete with a MacBook.

With a keyboard and Pencil, the iPad Pro costs more than a MacBook, so I don’t think they care.

I am using 23 out of 64gb's. Works well for my needs.

ETA: My iPhone is using 8 out of 64gb's.

I was thinking of using iPad as an ebook reader storing PDFs and watching/browsing internet with a handful of designer apps like Photoshop (whenever it releases). Am I crazy in thinking 64 GB is enough or am I just fooling myself?

For your purposes, I think you can manage on just 64GB. Your iPad's being used as an accessory device. Much of your computing life action is taking place elsewhere. If you wanted to skate by with just 64GB and use an iPad as your primary device, 64GB would be hard to live on.

If you're not storing a lot of photos, music, and (especially) videos, 64GB will go a long long long way.

I recently purchased a 32GB 9.7" iPad and a 64GB iPhone X. Both of these purchases are replacing 128GB devices. I just don't need that much storage on my mobile devices for my uses, but my 2016 MBP is maxed out at 2TB. It cost me an arm and a leg, but that's where I do need as much storage as I can get and skimping wouldn't have been worth the money I'd have saved.

I'm doing quite well on 64GB on my iPhone X and 32GB on my 9.7" iPad. My use case is pretty similar to the OP's. The iPad isn't a primary device for me. It's an accessory device. You can live with a pretty modest amount of storage when you're not counting on a device to house your music, photo, and video library.

A lot of people have said storing stuff in the Cloud will save on storage. Personally, I'd rather have local storage than Cloud storage for speed reasons, but I can rest comfortably with my decision to go minimal on storage knowing that I COULD rely on Cloud storage if I guessed wrong about my storage needs.

Its interesting seeing the different responses to this. In my case its my iPhone which gets filled up with pictures and music whereas my iPad tends to only get big files downloaded to it if i'm going to be away from the web for a while and am looking for some videos to watch.

I'd still be nervous about only having 64GB on it though - 128GB was always the sweetspot for me when it came to the iPad.
