I currently have a 128GB Mini 4 with 92GB free (so using 36GB). iTunes differs and says i’m using 42Gb. I don’t know which on too believe.

I think 64GB ‘would’ work, but I have already paired it right down by deleting apps and content. The Mini is my only iPad. I went with the 256GB because I just can’t be sure the 64Gb will be enough long tern.

It is annoying not to have the 128GB but at the end of the day you can’t add more internal storage.

After using the 64gb for a few days now - has anyone serious regrets about not going with the 256gb ? I am about to cure the itch but am wavering on the 64 vs 256. I feel like I might have to to pair it right down like Josieb1 did but that may not be a bad thing in its own right. I am using 55gb right now on 128gb Mini 4 and definitely paired it down a lot to get there.

Only you can answer this question.

For me 64 GB is definitely fine for now but for my next iPad Pro (perhaps in 2022) I will probably want 128 GB, esp. if the iPad Pro becomes even more usable as a sort of laptop replacement. Hopefully 128 GB will be entry level at that point but I’m not optimistic. I really don’t want to have to pay for 256 GB if I don’t need it but I suspect I will have to shell out.

I currently have 26 GB available but that’s after loading up some Prime and Netflix videos.

Storage space always helps when you go to resell the device. You either pay more now or later.

Some people have sold a iPad Pro 2nd gen 512GB, and bought a iPad Pro 3rd gen 64GB cellular for the same money.

Sounds like those individuals regretted the higher storage the first time around.

The only reason I have any pangs of regret for getting 64 GB is because of this forum. Otherwise, 64 GB is perfectly fine for me. If I was a power user it would be different, but I’m not. I’m glad the base wasn’t 32 GB, that’s for sure.

I ordered a 64GB iPad mini 5. I have a 256GB iPad pro so hoping to just use the mini for reading/browsing.

On a percentage basis, often the lowest storage tier usually gets the best return when you sell, at least in my experience. Yes, a higher storage tier will get you more money, but usually not as a percentage of the original amount paid (unless the cost premium for the higher tier was unusually low, for example if it was on sale).

Indeed. If someone goes from a 512 GB model to a 64 GB model a relatively short time later, it's more than likely they did not need 512 GB in the first place.

I bought the 256GB in the end. I plan to keep it 3-5 years so it seemed sensible. First thing I did was fill it up with audiobooks, tv and videos. I have 180 free, so already over the 64GB!

So that made sense for you, if you like having all that media offline for commutes, traveling, etc. I usually only download a few videos before a trip, and delete them afterwards. Lately, I don’t even do that because I have plenty of data on my phone plan for hotspot use.

No regrets at all. However my use case might not equal yours. I currently have 54 gb left. I knew going in I wasn’t going to replicate everything I have on my 10.5 Pro but rather keep it lean. I wanted a Mini as a secondary device rather than my prime iPad. If this is your main device then perhaps 64 would not be a wise choice. I think everyone needs to answer this for themselves.

I usually can stream in my hotel room. Most of my downloads are for the plane, etc. To my surprise, on my last cruise, I could stream Netflix HD and even access my home PVR at sea. It turns out the cruise line had installed Gigabit satellite links for passengers’ internet access just months before. I was getting 25-75 Mbps in the middle of the ocean.

And yeah, I also have a 13 GB per month cell plan which also includes 5 extra hours of unlimited data usage per month within my home country on top of that.

My new mini is my new ”main ipad” that I’m going to have with me wherever I go. It will get filled with documents, pictures and videos. 256GB made sense.

If it’s your secondary ipad or secondary device overall (just can’t go about your job/day without a laptop, for example), then I would imagine 64GB to be just fine!

If you plan on wanting access to your photos without having to be connected to the cloud, transferring large amount of files from a camera, or storing lots of media files you will need more than 64gb. But if all you do is stream stuff you should be okay.

Surely not enough for my iPhone but for the iPad mini it's totally fine. I don't put all my media offline in the device. And only selected apps are installed.
