I don't really think the black strip is a problem. It's actually pretty nice, except for one thing... it's also visible at the front and it's cutting of the metal frame around it. That's a big dissapointment.

Is this a joke? "Couldn't care less" is the only way this is correct. Saying anything else just comes across as stupid.

No, its not a joke. Here's news: some idioms in the US aren't the same as they are in the UK.

Never heard of sarcasm? Wouldn't saying "I could care less" in a sarcastic manner have exactly the same meaning as saying "couldn't care less" in a non-sarcastic manner?

Language, isn't it great?

My main consideration to not get the 3g was the fact that I wont use it much. However the strip is so ugly, my main complaint is that the black plastic goes all the way to the screen if it was only on the back it wouldnt be that much of an issue.

What are you guys going to do if the new iPhone looks similar to the iPad 3G? Not get it because it has a black strip? Let's see how many people put their money where their mouth is. As for me I like it, I don't mind the strip. It just signals the higher end model. But to each is own.

I don't know why you would think it needs a logic discussion.

If you care less than you care now, there's room to go down.

If you can not care less than you care now, there is nothing lower.

Hey, look! First hit on google :) Pretty straightforward.

I think it's possible to care less than zero. That's when you are so obsessed with not caring that it actually means you care more than you think you do.

I feel sorry for people whose vanity outweighs their logical capabilities. It wouldn't make a difference for me either way, I'd get the iPad with the most functionality, but I think the black strip looks cool.

I guess it's a moot point. I won't be getting an iPad until at least gen 2.

Doesn't bother me ... I will be keeping the device in a case anyway, so it won't really matter too much.

I just hope that Incipio comes out with a feather light case for it.

This is one thing I don't enjoy about being sucked into the apple product vortex.

People with this hyper-inflated and ocd-like problem with minor aesthetics. I don't really enjoy it. Kind of weirds me out actually.

To each their own, but to be bugged out by something like that, which for most people is going to be likely inside a case just doesn't make much sense to me. However you are free to like what you like.

The first iPhone had a black plastic bottom and aluminum back. It looked great.

I just thought of an awesome accessory to capitalize on:

A thin aluminum plate that covers the black part, making it the same color as the rest of the device.
There will be fine print on the order page stating that it may interfere with 3G reception. This notice will be printed next to the button labeled [Place Order ALL SALES FINAL]

Mwahahaha!

or people who don't care about reception could just buy a new aluminum back meant for a wifi model

Just turn it upside down and think of the black strip like the carbon-fiber diffuser of a high performance sports car.

The black stripe is the shizzle! Y'all be trippin'!

I actually feel oppressed that I can't get it on the Wi-Fi only model.

Haterz out there probly just don't like it 'cuz it's BLACK.

I got the non-3G mostly due to impatience but having no black strip definitely is a plus.

I concur, but the thing will end up in a case where it won't really be noticeable so it's not a big deal in the end.

I do agree it mars the way the 3G iPad looks though.

You guys realize if they made it all metal/aluminum like the wifi model it would significantly reduce the 3G signal? Then you would all be complaining about reception issues...

Yeah. We all know the technical reasons. The thread is about the aesthetics.

To answer... yes. It does bother me, but I ordered one anyway and will probably completely forget about it 3.243 seconds after turning it on.
