Yeah, I got my clock set on Friday. I also heard that you could check your local Apple Store stock tomorrow evening (Thursday) after the stores close for the night on the website. Some stores start updating their stock then. You could then schedule a pick-up for the AM. My co worker said that’s how they got their 13 pro max without a pre-order on launch day.

Welp it looks like I am gonna get nostalgic and camp out at my local mall Apple Store tomorrow evening. Just got word there are two dudes in the mall parking lot as I type this.. flashback of iPhone X launch in 2017.

I hope you get something!

Hey,

So after a lot of internal debate.. I decided to upgrade my iPhone 14 Pro Max to the 15 Pro Max. However, I didn’t pre-order and I am taking a gamble by trying to secure one via walk-in launch weekend.

I looked on the Apple site and check the status of the pro max and storage I wanted and it says shipping would be October 15-18 but for in store “availability for Sept 22”.

Just was wondering if this was confirmation that my local store has stock for walk ins or again just a general thing posted for in store pick ups.
As someone who has bought in store on release day since the 6 I say show up. I get to my local store about 6:30am and that puts me in the first 5-10 people. I have always gotten my choice of phone. Around 7:00 apple employees walk the line and about 7:30 they walk the line getting your name and model you want. They don't say they have one just to stay in line. At 8:00 they start letting reservations in the door and within a few minutes start letting the walk-ins through the door in groups of 2-3. Every year I walk out by 8:30 with a new device. I normally by a Max with a middle storage. I have had friends that sleep in and show up around 9:00. They have ended up getting a phone but they typically have get phones from the noon delivery so they get later reservations.

If you want to order before you come then start checking the local store inventory at 6:00am launch day. Each store individually activates their inventory online to order. I am told if they have lots the Manager activates it early. If there is limited they go live at 8:00am at the latest.

I hope this helps.

I have a Pro Max ordered for delivery but it’s not due to come until later in October so hoping to pick one up sooner.

The Apple site says nothing is available in any of the 4 stores in the country. I’ll check later tonight and tomorrow morning at about 6am.

Guys - the info here is so useful !! I’m not from the USA but I’ll be there next week so here’s my question - let’s say there is inventory available on 9/22 for a store pick-up and if I order pick up - does that mean I can walk in on Monday (25th) in the store and pick it up ??

Yes as long as you checkout with payment. They hold it for 7 days

Thank you so much !! Stupid question - when you order it online with store pick up - do they just deliver it to the store immediately ? Or it is just a phone which is already in the physical store’s inventory ?

The Apple Store app will tell you if it’s available now or “arrives in” the future. Available now means depletes in store stock.

But remember you can’t place a pickup order for the iPhone 15 pro at all.

Oh, wow ? I got the impression from previous comments here that at 6 AM Friday the store pick up will be available again ?? Isn’t the whole discussion here about this ?

The in store pick up availability is based on the store stock so they will pull it from there.

Over the past day, when the thread was started, you were able to still select able to select a store to pickup although I don’t think anyone was able to actually complete an order.

Sometime between yesterday and now Apple completely removed the in store pickup option and switched to in store availability only which more accurately reflects the situation.

So whatever slim chance there was with the previous option is gone.

Correct, but it will be back tomorrow at 6 am local time.

Its so annoying that this app went subscription when its literally just doing curl requests from apple.com/shop and repackaging them. The only thing that costs the dev any money is text updates.
Hi! I'm the developer :) I get that subscriptions fatigue is real, which is why I spent quite a bit of time and effort to rebuild our macOS app, while keeping it absolutely free. We added a subscription layer for users that want email+text notifications, as well as web access (which were our top two feature requests, and also which are not free for us to run). Check out the new macOS app here! https://inventorywatch.app/download

I was chatting with apple and they said in store inventory will not show up online, you have to go in store physically and buy one and its first come first serve, everyone here saying you can wake up early and order for same day pick up??

I don't believe this because last year online in store inventory did show up and I was able to snag one. Unless Apple is going to do this differently this year, I'd still say check in the morning tomorrow around 6 am and we'll find out.

Hmmm, was this an Apple Store employee at a store or like through the phone or chat?

We shall see. I don’t think it will but happy to be wrong. Everyone deserves a chance to snag one, but I would split the difference and be in the walk in line before 6 and keep refreshing.

Yeah I am still gonna check online inventory cause that’s odd. Even last year in store inventory was on the website launch day.

This is what happens next:
1) on sep 22 might be midnight or anytime, greyed out disappears and then it becomes who first snags online for same day pickup.
2) local store will also have unadvertised inventory which is not accessible online - meaning first people in the store will be able to buy it.
From there i would shoot for 1 and if it fails go for 2.
