I don't know that Apple is becoming greedy.
I think that its smaller at all costs design philosophy (which has limited or removed some flexibility) portrays expense to those Apple users that either need or want the flexibility that is now missing.
Where before you could add to an Apple computer to customize its flexibility to meet your unique needs, today you must either take what Apple has been able to squeeze into its ever smaller product or add external and in many cases third party products to supplement what Apple offers.
And due to the smallest at all costs design philosophy, the internal components that are replaceable or upgradable are more limited, which usually results in higher cost.
I've been seriously considering switching from Apple but I'm finding the price isn't cheaper when specifications are equal. It would only provide me with the internal flexibility that Apple doesn't offer.
What I really want is that mythical XMac.
