It seems Samsung has the world right now in their hands with their aggressive marketing. Everyday that passes, is a day a potential consumer chooses Samsung over Apple because they couldnt wait long enough for the next iPhone. I might be one of those too wanting to upgrade my 18 month old phone. I think it would be smarter in the future to have a release schedule closer to Samsung.

I agree, ever since they went away from the summer releases, it's been like the beginning of the end for them.

They survived the GS2 (4S was best selling iPhone ever) and shipped 5m iPhone 5s in 72hrs despite the fact that the GS3 came out months earlier.

I think they'll be just fine. GS4 regardless.

people who want iPhone's will wait until the new iPhone comes out. People who don't really care will go with Samsung. Apple crowd is too loyal. Also, if some do leave for Samsung...they will always come back to Apple one way or another. But i do wish they would release them sooner. I like shiny new phones lol

If it's just a 5S (which seems likely at this point), then you're damn right they're waiting too long. Unless they revolutionized the fingerprint sensor like no other.

I hope it is more than just a fingerprint sensor, to tempt me back to the iPhone I would be looking for more ZB, but I fear that you are correct with your prediction of the 5S. :)

If they sped up the release cycle it would just cause some other fans to come here and complain they are releasing products too fast, and their iPhones, iPads etc. are becoming obsolete too fast. I think an iPhone, iPad... a year is just fine. Also, i don't think they are losing a lot of costumers to the galaxy s3/4. Even iPhone 4s outsold galaxy s3 in the Q1 let alone iPhone 5. (Apple sold 5 million iPhone 5's in two days. It took Samsung a month to ship 10 million s4's, and it will take them a bit more to sell all of them) :D

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd. today announced that global channel sales of its GALAXY S4, a life companion for a richer, fuller, simpler life, has surpassed 10 million units sold in less than one month after its commercial debut. Launched globally on April 27, the phone is estimated to be selling at a rate of four units per second.

Uhh, ok?

Apple sells 300,000 iPhones a day. The iP5 was yet again the best selling smartphone in the world (after the iPhone 4S last year).....

Something tells me Apple's gonna be ok.

I don't think they're waiting too long and I don't think a summer release is critical.

You can't base your business around what someone else is doing. They have their release cycle, whatever it may be, and will not put out a new phone before they deem it to be ready just to stave off a marketing bomb from Samsung.

And the same goes both ways. Apple dominated the conversation last fall and sold 5m iPhone 5s in the first week. Nobody was suggesting that Samsung should move up the GS4 to the end of the year....nor should they.

To many people get caught up in who sells the most phones, it doesn't make their phones better, it just makes faceless shareholders and board members richer, I won't champion these people, they mean nothing to me as I do them.

FFS, "my phone sold more than yours". Great argument........Not.

lol must of hit a nerve

if you want to get technical sansumg sells a hell of a lot more phones then 300,000 a day.that is apples total sales on all there phones and samsung is doing 450,000 a day just with its gs4.

why dont you google how many phones total samsung sold last year

going from memory is was 220 million so lets round down to 200 million and that will average over 540,000 a day.

you people are not seeing how successful the gs4 is,it alone is averaging what all of samsungs line was doing last year

You're comparing apples to potatoes. Samsung sells a boat load of phones (including dumb phones) while Apple sells only 3 models, all of which are smart phones.

A better comparison would be GS4, GS3 and GS2 sales vs i5, i4S and i4 sales.

Good point! The gs4 alone is killing all of samsungs cheap phones it was selling like mad last year.

Im not the one who dropped apples 300k a day jab and the funny part is the gs4 alone is out selling that figure that includes all of apples phones

Really?

Have any evidence that the S4 is outselling the iPhone 5?

If samsung stays on track it will come really close to 40 million gs4s in one 1/4

Verizon witch is the biggest carrier in the usa just launched the gs4 today and im sure they will add alot to samsungs numbers and the google edition will push sales next month also

from gartner apple sold 23 million units q3 and 43 million unit q4 and that is all there phones.

the gs4 still has 3.5 months of sales to finish its first 1/4

Actually, they sold 23 milllion iPhone 5s. Not everything else, just iPhone 5s. Some Analysts, which is what you're going by, say as high as 27.4 million just for the i5.

(1) I was wondering what the GS4 sales numbers had to do with the title of the thread.....you didn't make any mention of the thread topic and simply spouted GS4 sales numbers....

(2) I never said Samsung didn't sell a ton of total phones. Apple sells 1 line of smartphone (the iPhone) of which there are 3 models currently for sale - the newest being 8 months old. Samsung sells hundreds of different smartphones.

(3) If, by your post, Samsung is selling 4 GS4's per second, that would equate to roughly 350,000 per day. Simple math bud....

Given all the accusations of paid shills on this site, I wouldn't think it would help for someone to bring up (out of nowhere with no comparison of link to the thread's topic) Samsung's GS4 numbers.

But make all the assumptions you want about me.....I was simply stating facts about the iPhone (being that this thread is about iPhone sales). If you want to discuss GS4 sales, I've made plenty of posts in the appropriate threads.

Well its a catch 22 for Apple. On one hand, you have people wanting to upgrade and want a new iPhone right now, but there are people who just bought an iPhone 5 6-8 months ago who would be upset there is already a new model so quickly. They cant put out a new iPhone every time Samsung or HTC put on a new device.

Apple sold more than 35 million iPhone 5's last year (as it was out for 1 quarter) including 5 million in a weekend.....

Given Apple's total iPhone sales last quarter (35 million) and the 50/50 split Verizon reports with the iP5/iP4S & 4 - Apple sold another 17.5 million iPhone 5's last quarter (that's almost 6 million per month).

Essentially Apple is still selling at a rate of 6 million iPhone 5's per month even with all these new releases and the iPhone 5 having been out for more than half a year.

That bring the iP5 total up to 52.5 million sales after about 8 months.....

And remind me how, after 1 month of sales, the GS4 has 3.5 months left to finish a quarter?

1 year = 12 months......1 quarter (1/4) of 12 is 3.....Samsung's got another 2 months to finish off a quarter......

Samsung's incredibly successful, and their Galaxy series is growing fast......but I think we still don't understand that despite all this, Samsung still has a ways to go before catching Apple.....

I mean heck, Apple has sold over 120 million iPhone 4S's.....that's almost more than ALL GALAXY S phones combined.....and that's ONE smartphone - outselling an entire line!

Samsung may yet reach Apple's phone-for-phone and line-for-line sales, but at this point in time, Apple maintains the best selling smartphone line on the planet (and owns each of the last 3? best selling Smartphones) while Samsung is the overall top selling PHONE maker in the world (through its hundreds of different phones).

I used 10,000,000 sold in 22 days for my per day average

Demand will taper off, it's inherently true of any product. That is not to say Samsung won't have a nice healthy, consistent sales number for the S4.

But now what? We need to wait 4 months for the next thing?! (Note 3 or iPhone)
