iMessage, Airdrop and FaceTime are the main anchors for me.

I really do think it’s well past time that Apple freshened up iOS. I’m not talking about fundamental changes to the way it works, more tweaks that would add a little bit of sparkle and freshness to it. New system sounds/notification tones for example. The existing ones have been around since 2013 and they’re dated. The ability to organise the screen how I see fit, rather than in a rigid grid. For God’s sake just give us a proper dark mode! More customisation on the lock screen (like different clock faces).

Nope. Could care less about iMessage honestly. Seems pointless to me. I stick with iPhone for the customer service, when needed. And the fact that iOS is just so much smoother than android.

I stick to the iPhone because I am in the Apple Eco-System. Also for iMessage and FaceTime. Continuity is also important for me, plus the apple watch. At this point it would be too difficult to switch, plus I like the fact that there are retail stores I can go to if I have hardware issues.

Don't get me wrong. I really like my iPhone X, but I don't love it. Mainly because I am getting board with iOS and the lack of customization. However, iMessage is the main thing keeping me on the iPhone (even though I am fully in the Apple ecosystem).

I know people will say you can use other apps to do messaging, but having iMessage as the stock messaging system is key for sending pics and videos to family and friends.

Just a thought on this sunny Friday...

One of the main reasons due to all my family has iPhones too. I have Android for my work so I get to enjoy it. I had a Note 8 for the last year before the X, and loved it too, but it made it difficult to send pictures, videos and other things to my family from it.

No its not the only reason..

- Cleaner UI
- Scrolling is much smoother in iOS, Gestures are friendly and refined
- Font is great
- Stable OS compared to Android, STILL !
- Handoff, Continuity
- Better Apps and less buggy, So much Ads in Android apps
- Call Quality is Solid with any earpiece in any iPhone
- iOS Updates Guaranteed

Only on iMessage can I pick individual "bubbles" within a text message conversation (pics or text) and forward them to an email address.

This is essential to me running my business, as I receive work from my customers via text, and then forward just what I want to my evernote email address. Ive never found an Android messaging app that can do this.

Thats the number 1 reason for me to stick with iOS and iMessage. Being able to use iMessage across all my devices runs a close second.

I'd be tempted to go with Android for my DD if I could do the above things.

For me it’s iMessage but also Live Photo.

And now it’s the swipe up gesture. I don’t think I want a home button even like the one on Samsung s9.

Its funny as when I had my iPhone I used it primarly as a phone and used facetime occasionally but not to much of Apple's other stuff outside of that.
I do like AW & Mac but I think I prefer my current phone which is a Note 8.
If Samsung could get the watch and computer game on lock then life would be a bit easier in the decision making process.
[doublepost=1532141590][/doublepost]However I am not a fan of all the features on the Note 8 as I think it is overkill.

Yes, iMessage is literally one of the main things keeping me with apple along with the many years of paid apps that I would have to repurchase when I change OS.

Have you considered jailbreaking? I find that it’s the best of both worlds for me since it allows me to customize as much or as little as I would like.

For me, it's just because I have invested in Apple ecosystem too much that I can hardly pull myself out. Game data, past purchases, apps, and above all, the ecosystem. Software update used to wow me each year, but after iOS 9, I have a mixed feeling for each major release. "Update" does not always mean "better than before", in my opinion.
Nevertheless, iMessage is not the reason I stick to the Apple ecosystem, and I use many Google products every day as well.

That’s a great point. And that’s something I missed earlier that I should have mentioned Other than the fluidity of iOS, ecosystem and security, but Apple customers service is imperative to a good experience being that tech products can have issues hardware and software wise, and being that their products expensive, it’s nice to have a company that recognizes that and stands behind their products.

I agree. Even when they have made mistakes they try and fix them. I.e running repair or replacement programmes. I don’t really see other companies doing this. Yes as an individual you might take your device to them and they might fix it under the warranty but you don’t really see other companies holding their hands up and saying yes this is wrong now he’s a programme open or anyone having issues with that device.

You could just not use the extra features on the note. But sometimes in the end it’s about the whole picture rather than individual pieces. Depends on how much you value the integration between your devices vs having one phone which is better than another.

no, i rarely use it - maybe once a month. i only use the app when i need to send a text msg when it is needed (to buy a bus ticket, to a person who only knows how send old sms’s or so...).

i use skype/whatsapp most of the time. and i dont actually know anyone that is using imessage to reach someone.

No I don’t use it loads apart to text best mate, mum. The person I text the most is on WhatsApp

iPhone
iPad
Watch
Air pods

Just work so much better together than android

Also software updates matter..having Samsung phones were a pain. You shoukdnt need to buy a new phone to get the latest OS straight away each year

No. It's nice to have but for me it's all my Apple devices in sync and singing from the same song sheet.

iMessage/Facetime is one of MANY reasons I'll stick with an iPhone. iMessage is a big part of my interactions with plenty of people, especially with my family and sons. Read receipts are HUGE for me because I know they saw my message. Group messages, Group FaceTime, etc. There are also many other reasons:
  • App ecosystem. Smoother, better supported and overall higher quality. Native apps are perfect for my needs.
  • Family Sharing. I have 2 calendars that are shared with many people. Being able to add events, locations, etc and have others notified when events are added/deleted is probably the biggest for me. No other system has this (sharing yes but not notifications to others)
  • Multiple devices. Being able to have my iPhone, iPad, iMac and Apple Watch be treated as a single device. I can call, message, create reminders, etc on one and continue on another.
  • iOS stability and performance. With the exception of the first few dot releases of iOS 11, I've had no issues.

I think WhatsApp is more popular in Europe with “data messenging”

But in USA. iMessage is the still the Trojan horse that keeps many to the Apple iPhone ecosystem along with FaceTime. None of the USA carriers can agree on “advanced messenging sms/mms”. For example. You would need a galaxy s6/7/8/9 with ATT to do advanced messenging with another ATT CUSTOMER with another s6/7/8/9. So if ur friend had an exact same s6/7/8/9 with Verizon. You cannot do advanced messaging with them. It’s stupid crap like this USA carriers do.

“Both sender & recipient(s) must be AT&T postpaid wireless customers with Advanced Messaging-capable devices that are turned on and must be within AT&T’s owned & operated domestic coverage area. ”

I don’t know maybe iMessage is a thing in America but in the U.K. nobody uses it, it’s essentially text messaging which is used to message your gran but that’s about it. Everybody uses Facebook messenger, WhatsApp or Snapchat. Not iMessage lol

Oh wow that sounds complicated. I can see why people just use iMessage and this pick iPhones over there.

Yep even my mum switched to what’s app this year after years of only using iMessage. None of my contacts use iMessage.

Minus the Air pods this is my reason for preferring the iPhone. The continuity between devices and the simplistic and clean interface make it a pleasure to use. I could do without Apple killing my battery life every other update but apart from that I love the fact we get regular updates.

Come to the capitol because everyone i know uses iMessage and FaceTime here.
Even at work communicating with portfolio companies based out of japan and US and Europe. Everyone is on iMessage. Each one would would use other services as well but they would use it in a supplementary capacity.

Same can be said with Switzerland, and on a recent trip to to the Middle East, it was shocking the amount of iPhones and Apple watches that were being used.

I work in finance and in VC.

Getting board with iOS? Sometimes it turns me on, too.

-I have no reason to change.
-I perceive apple’s commitment to privacy as far superior to the competition. This is the big one for me.

It’s perhaps different for work phones. I think it’s certainly not widely used on personal phones though

From what I see because of the way the iPhone is provisioned for the enterprise and the fact that most businesses pick up the cost of newer handsets, most people here use their business handsets as their primary phone.
