The commercial covers how 3D Touch works fairly well.
Used on app icons for quick access to tasks within an app.
Used inside an app on links to peek into it and/or on content to peek into it. (And further pop into)
Pretty simple really. That's the foundation of 3D Touch and really easy to apply that knowledge to anywhere you think might do something.
The only really "secret" thing is the keyboard trackpad. (I believe they show the app switcher 3D Touch in the ad.) and even with the keyboard. It's not like not knowing it you lose a function. You never had it to begin with before 3D Touch. But when someone does find out it's a nice "ooooh, nice!" moment.
Actually "
pretty lame" is a better classification for the current 3D Touch implementation.
Aside from all the stock iOS functions, add in the 124 current app crop on my 6S+; I am sure as heck not going to play around in the myriad of screens, views, and menus to see if I can find 3D Touch function.
If it isn't in my face, plain as day, saves me some time, or presents a better option, I have a way to do my "task" and will likely not look to change it.
Two smartphones, one tablet, one laptop, one desktop, and a Chromebook (
plus that tree'd partridge) are my daily use tools. I'm not going much out of my way to hunt down a 3D Touch hidden feature.
