Unless your battery is dying and/or the screen is cracked to hell, there's little justification for upgrading IMO, given the slow pace of design changes & tech updates (and even then, replacing the battery and/or repairing the screen could be more cost effective, but YMMV)
Satellite SoS. See my profile why that’s important

You can replace the battery
I switched from 13Pro to 13Pro Max when my wife got a new 16Pro Max.

I love the bigger size and better battery life. I tried the 16Pro Max but I don’t see any major reason to upgrade (with these prices).

So I guess next year or so I will just replace the battery. Unless something major happens on the AI front and it actually becomes useful (for me).

As I said above, it is subjective and personal. I could say there are several good reasons to upgrade from a 13 Pro Max to a 16 Pro Max, such as USB C connector (one connector for all my Apple devices is very handy), better camera, more RAM, which is useful in some applications, a slightly bigger screen with less weight and even better battery life. But those points could be weighted differently for you 🤷🏻‍♂️

That is a good list. All of them (- the camera) are actually on my list of reasons to upgrade. But the list is still a bit too short and there is the huge minus of the price.

Eventually of course I will upgrade, but looks like my upgrade cycle will be longer than ever before. But on the other hand, I have been and still am super happy about the 13 Pros. And that’s a good thing.

Camera is better, I can assure you.
peaking about the price, you are right: Apple’s prices are difficult to swallow.

I upgraded from a 13 Pro Max to a 16 Pro Max and apart from the better camera, it is essentially the same phone and experience in use. There is some other guff about AI and a mediocre camera control feature, but all the important stuff is the same thankfully.

This is a good thing though isn't it? You can go multiple years with having a phone that is near the current devices.

At this point Apple and specially iPhone has become a status symbol and most buyers will spend/loan thousands a year even though they have a perfect and fully functioning device just to look cool at the eyes of others. Apple knows this so they don't need to reinvent anything, they know they are going to sell millions every year just by changing the colors.

Have no idea where you get these things from, but no one cares what iPhone you have.
