Why does Duet Display not work on my current Windows 10 setup but when I go to fresh image of Windows 10 it works fine?

I can't determine what application is conflicting with it :(

I don't want to redo my whole computer again with a fresh image of Windows 10 either :(

Basically what happens on my current Windows 10 install is after installing Duet Display and restarting the white circle stays on the loading screen never going to the windows login screen. It gets stuck there.

Am using Duet Display for some time now, both on os x (mac mini server 2011) as Windows 7; previously on an ipad 2 and now on an air 2.

I think driver-wise it works best for me in combination with os x; there are some problems with Windows 7. Every time I disconnect, Windows still thinks there is a monitor connected; and the next time I connect the iPad it will just add another monitor. Sometimes I also have to explicitly quit the Duet process and start it again.
On os x this never happens.

Regarding image quality: I guess they use a lot of compression. I see quite some artifacting going on, like a jpeg that has been compressed to much. Scaling works quite well, the full retina mode is too small for me, so I usually put it somewhere between the retina resolution and the old 1024x768 resolution.

It is ideal for having an extra screen occasionally on which you can display mail or a web browser. But it does video quite well too.

In terms of lag: there is definitely lag, but of a strange sort. It is mainly the mouse cursor that does not feel supersmooth, especially if the display is updating screen elements (for instance, scrolling in a text and moving the mouse cursor at the same time).

I found it quite useful, but I bought it for a much lower price tag compared to today.

Question about Duet Display? Is there a way to make Duet Display work as just a solo screen. I know that if you activate Duet Display and then unplug your primary display that Duet Display will work as my primary screen just fine. But can I get Duet Display to function as my primary and only screen when I first power up my Mac Mini?

Damn I was about to buy that. Any alternatives? Air Display has way worse reviews than Duet...

The topic of this thread should really be changed to "Is it just me or does Duet Display suck on Windows?"

I use it daily on OSX... and it works flawlessly. Awesome to be able to carry around a second screen for my laptop.

Duet Display works really well and now has a touchbar. I installed the software connected my ipad to my imac and the ipad display was blurry. However, you have to go the duet application settings when your ipad is connected and change the display settings. I changed to retina resolution 60 fps and it works flawlessly. I believe most of the issues are not knowing how to set the display options.

Yes, Duet display really doesn't work well on windows - in fact in Windows 10 it has caused me to have to rebuild my computer from scratch twice due to in compatibility with Windows 10 Creators edition which took a while to work out. ATM it's somehow causing my attached screen to flicker every 30 or so seconds which I haven't sorted out yet. All in all - not really usable - Unfortunately it also seems to be the only game in town for this sort of cintiq-like use-case.

I never had any problems with Duet and my iPad Pro 12.9, but on my Surface Pro 4, the app will not even install, and on my iPad Air, the lag is just unbearable.

duet diplay not working on my macbook pro... due diplay version is duet-1-6-3-6 and os is 10.9.5

I finally got a new work laptop with Windows 10 and Duet Display now works like it did in the beginning - actually useable now.

I suspected my laptop just sucked, glad to see it working now.

I really wanted to like this. High hopes I guess. Too bad they seem to be investing more money in marketing than in perfecting the product.

Originally purchased it more than 1y ago, tried it several times on MBP 15 retina 2012, and now on a new MBP 15 2017 (Kaby Lake). I have an iPad Air 1 (I doubt that is the issue, i.e. too old iPad, I am interested in other's opinions) with "best quality" options i.e. "Retina Resolution" / "60 FPS" / "High Quality", and my experiences are as follow:
- Lag - Perceptible but completely OK.
- Graphics quality - Bad. Really. I guess a result of compression being used. Smudges, bad text rendering, "ghosting"-like artefacts around objects, strange screen blinking artefacts synhronized with the caret blinking in editors like Sublime Text. Unusable.
- Color accuracy - Bad. Again, probably because of compression? Plus the menu bar has gray highlights instead of blue. For some it may not matter.
- Disabled screen transparency for the iPad "external display". May be related to the gray menu bar above.

I would have preferred a higher lag and better graphics quality and color accuracy. Maybe a slider to allow us to choose a better compromise for using the USB2 (I guess that's the limitation?) bandwidth, i.e. lower lag but lower quality at one side, higher lag and higher quality to the other.

I guess that if they were to have a trial period, sales would have been muuuch lower. Not to mention there's no forum on their web site, etc - like not really wanting to allow for the critique to be visible. Hence the importance of this thread!

Besides the lag I also find that duet also has a lot of graphical glitches like the bar at the top of the screen the menus text often disappear and the bar goes black.

It turns my iPad Pro into the Cintiq I always wanted. Love it.

Well, kind of. Compared to a Cintiq, Duet Pro has quite a bit more lag, the pressure sensitivity doesn't feel as natural for some reason, the line glitches when you draw light quick circles, and no true cursor hover can be a pain. It's usable, but for someone who's been using Cintiqs for a long time, there's a big difference. But it's expected considering their hardware limitations.

If you watch the colors the colors flicker and change hue at times also. You can't use photoshop when the screen is set to extend the display it only works mirrored and the screen is cut to widescreen not using the whole screen. If you extend the display then drag photoshop to your iPad then photoshop won't update your drawing when you draw.

Really? I haven't had that problem with photoshop (using cs6, mavericks on mid 2012 rMBP). That's an odd and major problem. I'd see if duet support can help you out. If not, you should get a refund or discount.

I've tried to get refunds in the past from Apple on apps and it never works out. I bought an application through apples App Store for my iMac it was 30 dollars and was suppose to be a video encoder. The app constantly crashed at startup and wouldn't even open to try and use it and apple told me no refunds and wouldnt refund my money. So it was like I took 30 dollars and set it on fire. I haven't tried to get a refund from the iOS store yet but I'm not to confident on getting a refund. Plus I've had duet display for a very long time. I just never used it for drawing until recently. I am using the latest photoshop cc and the only way I can use it to draw is if I mirror the display in duet
