The build is:

10.12 (16A323)

which is the same as the third GM candidate released a couple days ago or so.
Strange... I downloaded the "GM" build, using a redemption code, and on my MBA, it shows as build 16A320. I'll probably wait a few days or so to download it again.

Back on topic, my Purchased list only shows a beta build from July. No sign of the GM build I redeemed and downloaded (on two machines).

For mine, it shows up in purchases but it says "error" with a blank button. I can't download it it all.

Try clicking on the application in the featured tab. Then click download and just stay on that page. It should initiate the download. Thats how it worked for me.

Looks like it's back where the GM candidate was for me.

Edit: Checked on a different Mac and there's nothing between MacOS Server and the Public Beta. Strange.

Another weird thing that is going on with my App Store is that there is still a Beta for the Developer Preview sitting in the Updates waiting to install. I downloaded the Beta update, but never got around to installing it, now it just sits there and I don't know if I should try to reboot...

Huh strange, it just changed to macOS Sierra 10.12.1 Developer Beta 1

Yes, good idea. You do not have the public release, you have a beta. Can you go around the 'Purchased' and 'Updates' sections of the App Store and download via the 'Featured' section? Search for "macOS" and download that direct? Actually you won't have to search, you should see it right there on the front page.

Ok I've caught it at least 1x.. :D

Downloaded the installer a second time, and when the DL was finished it showed up with 1999 as date, under 'Other Purchases'

MAS nach Sierra-DL.png

checked for Updates then, 10.12.1 Beta is offered. Back to Purchases tab

MAS nach Update-Suche.png

and gone again.. ;)

Weird, to say the least.

I did the update last night (started it remotely) and finished it this morning on my iMac at work. I picked "macOS Sierra" from the Featured page, right-hand side listing. Build # shows up as 16A323.

Under Purchased, it still shows "macOS Sierra Public Beta" with a July 7, 2016 date. Nothing else Sierra-related listed. Under Updates, nothing is available related to OS updates. That makes sense, of course. It's the Purchased listing that is incorrect at the moment. Then again, since it's free, maybe Apple feels there's no need to include it (their choice). Users simply download it add'l times as they need it.

Hey guys, I've done a quick bit of research here and it looks like this is expected behaviour: Sierra will not show up under Purchased.

Also: El Capitan is staying in the App Store for anyone who cannot install Sierra.

This all jives with what people have been saying about Sierra not being linked to the Apple ID anymore.

It's an all too common situation where someone has upgraded OS X and then sells/gives away the Mac, then, when the OS needs to be reinstalled, it can't verify because their Apple ID doesn't have the OS assigned.

Apple even recommends doing an Internet Recovery to go back to the original OS and letting the new owner/user upgrade themselves.

Going forward that won't be an issue as there'll be no check against the Apple ID during reinstall.

I don't have an article to back this up, but I suspect that El Capitan will be sticking around for a while longer as a jumping off point for the next release or two. Given that the system requirements hadn't changed since Mavericks, anything that can't run Sierra will need to be as up-to-date as possible.

That is an interesting bit of information. I was working with a senior engineer on the "slow download that eventually fails" issue, and mentioned that it doesn't show up on the purchases tab... and he had no clue. One would think that if it was Apple's direction, the support engineers would be aware of that information.

Then again, who can say for sure.

Now we just need a guinea pig with Sierra installed to command-r boot to recovery and click reinstall OS and see if it asks for an AppleID. :)

Your theory does make sense. I never understood why Apple insisted on an AppleID for a free OS anyway.

this is sad ohnastly it should at least have the option to add to purchases. i always want to be able to download any os version guns il download them all and put them on a usb or something only idea i have. once 10.11. final x release comes out just download the installer and back it up seems to be our only option to keep the installers available to us. stupid move in my opinion.
[doublepost=1474866801][/doublepost]but at least el cap is here to stay. ad if snow leopard is a test to it it will be there for a while witch is a good thing.

Hopefully the new model will allow you to always be able to download past versions of Mac OS X / macOS.

Currently, once you've purchased/downloaded/installed a version of Mac OS X, it was placed on the Purchases tab, and would continue to be available into the future. I have seen many complaints from people who never "purchased" (not sure what the correct term would be for free software) versions, and are, thus, unable to download them once Apple removes then from the App Store.

If the information reported in this thread is accurate, then perhaps past versions will continue to be available for the foreseeable future for all - whether you actually installed that version when it was "current" or not.

And yes, I have copies of all old versions of Mac OS X stored offline for future reference, should the need arise.

thats what i plan on doing as well i still need to go on the apple site and buy mountain lion though i bought lion for my 1,1 pro and started using a mac just after mavericks launched. so i currently have access to everything minus mountain lion but i plan on getting it eventually.

After you download it, is it showing up in purchases for you?
Not the GM version - I'm talking about the version that just released today for the public!

It's not showing up for me - its not a big deal but I like to have it in there :p

Terribly not showing. when I'm downloading stuffs it says that i purchased the app on Jan 1, 2000.

It can be redownloaded from your Purchases Tab if you previously purchased it and it's "on your account", but otherwise, nope.

ALWAYS keep backup copies of the MacOS installers and this won't be a problem. Here is what my collection looks like:
Screen Shot 2017-09-25 at 8.48.09 PM.png

Though I don't agree with Apple's decision to not let you re-download an older version.

So, you had a whole year to download it... and it's Apple's fault? Interesting...

For the last 5 years El Capitan, Lion, Mountain Lion, Mavericks, Yosemite have been available on the Mac Store and it has been a great and fantastic experience to own this Apple device, but today, that experience has gone by the boards. It seem that you know more about this matter, could you be so kind to explain what happened. Why MacOs Sierra is not showing on my purchased list?

I would like to learn to be prepare and not to give my trust for the next time. Thank you!

Starting with Sierra, Apple no longer ties the OS X/macOS to a specific Apple ID, meaning that it will no longer be listed in the Purchases tab of the Mac App Store... If you participated in the beta program (I did), I have an entry on the Purchases tab for bothe the dev and public betas, but no general release. There are rumors that Apple will make it available via a direct download... not sure that will happen.

For future sake, download High Sierra, after the download, abort the install and create an installation thumb drive... BTW, I have copies of every release of OS X going back to Snow Leopard (10.6.8)... you never know when you'll need/want one.

I always do backups, but this time I never had the need... Big mistake on my part. To my good luck, I made a usb installer 2 weeks ago to install MacOS Sierra on my brother's computer, I just need to go to his house and borrow his usb. I will follow your advice and make copies of every release of OS X that I have on the purchased section.

Thank You!
