iPhone 16e Is the 16e really priced that bad?

MagSafe can be obtained with a case. Maybe not perfect but this is the low end price point phone.

Irrelevant. It won’t get you fast charge and it would have cost Apple pennies to implement in this phone.

It would have also made every 16e owner a potential MagSafe accessory customer and reduced confusion in their product stack.

They could have probably made this device for less cost if they’d simply blanked off one of the camera holes on the 16, installed the down binned SOC and called it a day.

They had to spin up an entire new manufacturing line for this!

I don’t disagree about including MagSafe - it doesn’t affect me so I’m not bothered by it. But if you think they increased their cost curve with this device you’re sorely mistaken.

The price isn’t bad for what you get but the feature omission of MagSafe is inexcusable. Apple had the opportunity to have MagSafe accessories work across the entire lineup for a few pennies in bom cost.

They didn’t because they were worried about the E cannibalising 16 sales. Which sucks. I guarantee there will be parents/grandparents buying MagSafe charger stands for their kids (or selves) as presents etc. only to find they don’t work properly. It’s confusion in the product lineup that didn’t need to exist!

How is it irrelevant? Apple was selling the 128gb SE3 for that price up until the 16e was released with significantly less specs and nobody complained about that. It’s also $200 less than the regular 16. There’s no question the 16e’s components make it worth well more than then SE3, in the same way they make it well less than the 16. So unless you have a problem with every device’s price in their lineup, it’s extremely relevant.

Also, can you name another phone out there that has an SOC as good as the A18 for $600? People seem to be dismissing that cost.

iPhone 14 is still better value than what the 16e is now. It's at least had better camera, two rest cameras and magsafe

There is no line that's been crossed. It's simply an awful value device. Saying people made the wrong decision buying it is correct. You disagree whatever but anybody who compares other phones will tell you it's bad value for the cost
